국문 초록

본 연구는 가야금병창의 발전과정을 태동기, 침체기, 부흥기, 전환기의 시대적 구분을 통해 살펴봄으로써 가야금병창의 발전과정과 시대적 변화의 연관성을 규명하고자 하였다. 태동기에는 일제강점기 근대화와 함께 1세대 대중스타 명인들이 등장하였고, 침체기에는 한국전쟁으로 가야금병창의 레퍼토리가 상당히 유실되었다. 부흥기에는 경제발전으로 인한 수요확대로 재도약의 발판을 마련하였으며, 전환기에는 가야금병창의 현대화 및 새로운 레퍼토리의 개발 등 시도가 현재까지 이어지고 있다. 본 고에서는음원 목록과 연주자 목록을 분석하여 당대의 인기 곡목과 활동한 명인들을 살펴보고 가야금병창을 시대적으로 구분함으로써 가야금병창의 역사와 발전과정을 이해하고 앞으로 나아갈 방향을 전망하고자 한다

영문 초록

This paper identifies the development progress of Gayageum byeonchang, by grouping it into: initial phase; stagnation; revival; and transition. By doing so, it aims to shed light on the correlation between development progress of Gayageum byeongchang and its periodic changes. In the initial phase, coupled with modernization under Japanese colonial period, the first generation popular myeong-ins were active, whereas during the stagnation period, following the post-liberation political chaos and also the outbreak of the Korean War, substantial parts of Gayageum byeongchang repertoire were lost. In the revival period, the economic growth drove the demand in music, leading to groundworks for revival, and during transitional period, Gayageum byeongchang was modernized, and new repertoire were introduced of which continues until this day. In this paper, based on sound source list by respective period and performer list, popular songs of the time, and key active myeong-in will be analyzed. Based on such analysis, the study intends to comprehend the history and development progress of Gayageum byeongchang and its direction in going forward.
