국문 초록

본 연구는 초등학교 4~6학년 학생을 대상으로 한국청소년정책연구원에서 실시한 ‘2020년 청소년 미디어 이용 실태 및 대상별 정책대응 방안 연구 I’ 자료를 이용하여 유튜브 이용 실태, 유튜브 이용 방식, 유튜브 인식 및 태도 및 학교 미디어교육 실태를 알아봄으로써 초등학생이 인식하는 학교 미디어교육의 현황을 통해 사회 변화에 따른 미디어교육의 방향을 탐색하고자 하였다. 수집한 자료는 SPSS 27을사용하여 빈도분석과 기술통계 분석을 수행하였다. 분석 결과, 초등학생들은 자신의 관심사에 따라 유튜브에서 원하는 콘텐츠를 검색하고 시청하고 있지만, 학교에서는 인터넷을 통한 정보 검색 방법에 대한 교육을 받지 않은 경우가 많았다. 또한, 사실 여부를 판단하는 능력을 갖추지 못한 채 유튜브의 정보를 신뢰하는 경향이 보였으며, 이로인해 초등학교의 미디어교육 개선이 시급하다는 결론을 도출할 수있었다.

영문 초록

This study explored the direction of media education according to social change through the current state of school media education as perceived by elementary school students by examining the actual use of YouTube, the way they use YouTube, their perceptions and attitudes toward YouTube, and the current state of school media education using data from the '2020 Youth Media Usage Survey and Policy Response Study I' conducted by the Korean Youth Policy Institute for students in grades 4-6. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 27 for frequency analysis and descriptive statistics. As a result of the analysis, elementary school students are searching for and watching desired content on YouTube according to their interests, but they often do not receive education on how to search for information through the Internet at school. In addition, they tend to trust information on YouTube without having the ability to judge whether it is true or not, which leads to the conclusion that it is urgent to improve media education in elementary schools.
