장애대학생의 대학생활 적응프로그램 개발 및 효과

국문 초록

본 연구는 장애대학생의 대학생활 적응력 향상을 위해 대학생활에 대한 요구도를 분석하고 대학생활 적응프로그램을 개발 및 적용하여 그 효과를 확인하는 단일집단 사전-사후 설계이다. 연구대상은 일개 지역 4년제 대학교 장애학생지원센터에 등록된 장애대학생 30명을 선정하였다. 연구진행과정은 장애대학생의 고등교육 요구도를 분석한 뒤, 1년 동안 대학진학 및 입학, 학교시설물 접근성 지원, 교수-학습지원에 대한 적응프로그램을 적용한 후 대학생활 적응도와 만족도를 분석하였다. 연구도구는 김미정(2011)의 장애대학생 고등교육 요구도 도구를, Baker 등(1984)이 제작한 대학생활 적응도 검사를 손유진(2003)이 한국어로 번안한 대학생활 적응도 도구를, 한은성(2008)의 대학생의 학교생활 만족도를 김나영(2011)이 수정보완한 대학생활 만족도 도구를 사용하였다. 연구결과, 장애대학생의 요구도는 학교시설물 중 기숙사이용과 화장실 등의 위생시설에서, 정보획득의 접근성은 도서자료 제공, 보조공학기, 인력지원 등에서 어려움이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 불편한 교내시설물은 엘리베이터, 자동출입문의 부족으로 나타났다. 1년 동안 적응프로그램 적용 후 대학생활 적응력과 만족도는 유의하게 증가되었다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 장애대학생이 직업인으로서의 전문성을 양성하고 개인의 삶의 질 향상을 위해서라도 적절한 고등교육환정의 조성의 필요성을 제언한다.

영문 초록

This study with a one-group pretest-posttest design analyzed the disabled university students’ needs related to university life, applied a university life adaptation program, and examined its effect. The research subjects were 30 disabled college students enrolled at a disable student support center of a university. This study analyzed the disabled university students’ needs related to higher education and applied a university life adaptation program about college entrance, support for the access to campus facilities, and teaching-learning support and then analyzed the disabled students’ adaptation and satisfaction about university life. The research tools used in this study include Kim(2011) tood for Disabled University Students’ Higher Education Needs Questionnaire; the translated and adapted version (Son, 2003) of the Student Adjustment to College Questionnaire, developed by Baker et al. (1984); the revised and supplemented edition (Kim, 2011) of the University Life Satisfaction Questionnaire, developed by Han (2008). The results of this study showed that the disabled university students have difficulty using sanitation facilities such as a dormitory and a restroom among school facilities and that in terms of access to obtain information, they have difficulty in such categories as book material provision, disability aids, and personnel support. In addition, the inconvenience related to school facilities was caused by insufficient elevators and automatic sliding doors. This study also found that after the adaptation program was applied for a year, the disabled students’ adaptation ability and satisfaction in university life increased on a statistically significant level. Based on these results, this study suggests that it is necessary to establish a proper higher education environment for the disabled university students to help them develop expertise in their professions and improve the quality of their personal life.
