A Study on the Effectiveness of Dementia Education Program for Volunteer Workers

국문 초록

본 연구는 치매교육프로그램이 자원봉사자의 치매에 대한 태도, 치매간호에 대한 자기효능감에 미치는 효과를 검증하기 위한 단일집단 사전사후 원시실험연구이다. 2018년 7월 20일부터 2018년 8월 30일까지 자원봉사활동을 하고 있는 15명에게 교육프로그램을 제공하였다. 교육프로그램은 일주일에 1회씩 총 5회기를 제공하였다. 연구결과 치매에 대한 태도는(DAS : Dementia Attitudes Scale) 총점(pretest M± SD=90.07±19.32)(posttest M± SD=92.93±16.10), 안정점수(pretest M± SD=53.00±11.8)(posttest M± SD=55.27±0.95), 지식점수(pretest M± SD=37.07±9.54)(posttest M± SD=37.67±10.19 )으로 통계적으로 유의하게 나타나지 않았으나 평균점수에서 근소하게 향상됨이 나타났다. 이런 결과는 치매노인을 돌보는 자원봉사자에게 지식을 기반으로 안정적인 봉사활동을 제공할 수 있도록 하는 유익한 프로그램임을 나타냈다. 치매간호에 대한 자기효능감은(Inventory of Geriatrem Nursing Self Efficacy, IGNSE) 통계적으로 유의하지는 않았으나 평균점수가 근소하게 저하되었다(pretest M± SD=45.33±10.78)(posttest M± SD=44.93±10.79). 이런 결과는 프로그램 개발 시 자원봉사자의 자기효능감 향상에 대해 고려해야 할 것이다. 따라서 치매교육프로그램은 치매노인을 돌보는 자원봉사자의 효율적 활동을 위한 유익한 프로그램으로 나타났다. 그러나 프로그램개발 시 치매에 대한 자기효능감을 향상시킬 수 있는 교육내용이 필요하며, 일반화하기 위해서는 대상자의 수를 확보하여 연구해야함을 제안하는 바이다.

영문 초록

This study is an one-group pretest- and posttest pre-experimental design intended to verify the effectiveness of dementia education program on dementia attitude and dementia nursing self-efficacy in volunteer workers. This education program was provided for 15 volunteer workers from Jul. 20 to Aug. 30, 2018. This program was given one session in a week (five sessions in total). As a result, dementia attitude (DAS : Dementia Attitudes Scale) was not significant statistically with total score (pretest M± SD=90.07±19.32)(posttest M± SD=92.93±16.10), stabilization score (pretest M± SD=53.00±11.8)(posttest M± SD=55.27±0.95), and knowledge score (pretest M± SD=37.07±9.54)(posttest M± SD=37.67±10.19), but showed a slight improvement in mean score. This result suggests that the program is a useful one as it provides the volunteer workers looking after the elderly with dementia with stable volunteer activities based on knowledge. dementia nursing self-efficacy (Inventory of Geriatrem Nursing Self Efficacy, IGNSE) was not significant statistically, but the mean score declined slightly (pretest M± SD=45.33±10.78)(posttest M± SD=44.93±10.79). This result shows that self-efficacy improvement for volunteer workers needs to be considered while developing a program. Therefore, dementia education program appeared as a useful program for the effective activity of volunteer workers taking care of the elderly with dementia. But the educational contents are needed to improve the self-efficacy for dementia when developing a program and to generalize this, the number of subjects has to be secured.
