PBL학습법이 항공영어 교과목 학습역량에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본고의 목적은 국내 대학의 항공서비스학 전공에 개설된 항공영어 교과목에서 PBL 학습법을 적용하여그 교육적 효과를 논의하는 것이다. 이를 위해 대학에서 혁신적 교수법 적용 교과목 개발을 추진 배경으로 선정된 항공영어 교과목의 수강생 71명을 대상으로 의사소통 및 대인관계, 고차적 사고, 정보 및기술 활용, 문제해결력, 학업적 자기효능감의 5개 역량영역에서 사전-사후 역량진단을 조사하였다. 대응표본 t-검정(Paired sample t-test) 결과 대분류 5개 역량의 하위 역량 중, 자기표현과 비판적 사고를제외한 이해와 공감, 조정과 협력, 논리적 사고, 창의적 사고, 체계적 자료접근, 정보분석 처리, 창의적생산 및 공유, 원인분석, 대안개발, 계획 및 실행의 10개 영역에서 학습효과가 향상된 것으로 나타났으며, 특히 대분류에 속한 학업적 자기효능감 영역은 PBL을 통해 두드러지는 학습효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 PBL 학습법에 대한 교수자의 수업 구상, 문제설정, 평가방법 등에 대한 과제가 남아있음을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper was to investigate the educational effectiveness of applying the PBL method in aviation English courses offered within the aviation service major at domestic universities. A pre-post competency assessment was conducted on 71 students enrolled in the selected aviation English course. The assessment covered five competency areas: communication and interpersonal relationships, higher-order thinking, information and technology utilization, problem-solving skills, and academic self-efficacy. The results of the paired sample t-test indicated that, among the sub-competencies within the five major competencies, there was a significant improvement in ten areas. Particularly, the sub-competency related to academic self-efficacy showed a noticeable improvement through PBL. This suggests that there are challenges remaining for instructors in terms of course design, problem setting, and evaluation methods in the context of PBL learning.
