이중언어감수의 방법과 절차에 관한 탐색적 조사 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 이중언어감수 방식과 절차를 조사하기 위해 5명의 이중언어 감수자와 1명의 프로젝트 매니저를 대상으로 감수 과정에서 텍스트를 읽는 순서, 감수 단계의 생략과 축소, 감수 항목과 범위를 알아보았다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 원문 텍스트를 다 보지 않는다는 답변도 있었고, 번역문부터 읽는다는 답변과원문부터 읽는다는 답변이 모두 있었지만, 정확한 수정과 품질에 대한 큰 책임감을 보여준 참가자들은원문을 먼저 읽으며 다 확인한다고 답하였다. 둘째, 클라이언트의 요구나 프로젝트의 성격, 비용이나시간 제약 등 여러 요인에 따라 감수 단계가 축소될 수 있다는 의견이 많았다. 셋째, 이중언어 감수자는 번역문의 가독성도 고려하지만, 정확한 내용 전달 측면의 수정을 중요시하고 있었으며, 프리랜서 감수자는 번역문의 내용에 문제가 있거나 논리적 오류가 있다면 감수 단계에서 해결해야 할 부분이 아니라고 선을 그었다. 넷째, 감수 범위는 고객의 기대와 요구에 따라 크게 달라질 수 있는 부분이라는 의견이 많았다.

영문 초록

This study aims to investigate bilingual revision practice by conducting interviews with five bilingual revisers and one project manager. The participants were asked about the reading order between the source and the target text during the revision process, the possibility of a reduction in revision stages, and revision parameters and scope. The findings showed that more participants started revision by reading the target text but those with stronger focus on the correction of accuracy errors read the source text first; a reduction of revision stages looks possible depending on time and budget constraints and client needs; bilingual revisers stressed the importance of correcting accuracy errors but language and presentation were also considered important, while content checking was mostly considered the task of translators, especially from the perspective of freelance revisers; and the scope of revision seemed to be strongly influenced by the needs and expectations of clients. This study sheds some light on real-life revision practice, showing the need of further investigation to better understand the complicated revision practice.
