국문 초록

도시유휴공간은 산업혁명을 통해 등장한 2차산업 시설이 기술 및 과학의 발달과 도시인구 집중화 현상에 따라 그 목적과 기능을 상실하고 방치된 공간을 뜻한다. 문화적 재생을 통해 재탄생한 유휴공간은도시의 근대산업 유산의 역사적 가치를 보존하되, 문화시설로서 그 기능을 지속시키고 새로운 문화생산을 실현하는 공간이다. 본 연구는 파리 르 쌍캬트르와 베를린의 쿨투어브라우어라이 사례 연구를 통해국내 유휴공간의 문화적 재생 현황과 현재의 운영방식의 취약점에 대해 알아보고 도시유휴공간의 문화적 재생의 질적인 향상을 끌어낼 수 있는 방향을 제안하고자 하였다. 첫째, 현장과 이론과의 간극을 줄일 수 있는 다양한 프로그램과 시스템에 대한 연구가 선행되어야 한다. 둘째, 예술적 기능 습득을 위한교육이 아닌 아동·청소년의 심미적인 문화교육을 위한 공간을 제공해야 한다. 셋째, 정부 기관과 지역이 협업하는 작가 발굴 및 양성 지원 프로그램이 필요하다. 넷째, 아카이빙에 대한 중요성을 인식하고다양한 방법론에 관한 연구가 필수적이다. 본 연구를 통해 도시유휴공간의 문화적 재생의 지속 가능한활성화를 기대한다.

영문 초록

Vacant urban spaces refer to the abandoned areas resulting from the technological and scientific advancements during the industrial revolution, coupled with urban population concentration. These former secondary industrial facilities lost their original purpose and function as spaces, becoming neglected and left unused. The objective of this study is to identify the current status and vulnerabilities of cultural regeneration in domestic vacant urban spaces and suggests improvement measures. By examining case studies of Le Centquatre and Kulturbrauerei . As a result, the researchers derive various approaches and new directions to enhance the qualitative aspects of cultural regeneration for vacant urban spaces : Firstly, research should focus on developing diverse programs and systems that bridge the gap between practical experience and theoretical knowledge. Secondly, providing spaces that foster aesthetic and fundamental cultural education for children and adolescents, rather than merely instructive art training, is crucial. Thirdly, there is a need to propose and support collaborative programs for artist discovery and development. Fourthly, it is necessary to be aware of the importance of archiving and study various methodologies. Through this study, it is expected that cultural regeneration of vacant urban spaces will be sustainably activated.
