국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 유치원교사의 학교폭력에 대한 이해와 인식을 탐구함으로써 유아교육 맥락에서의 학교폭력이라는 용어의 사용과 유치원교사가 가져야 하는 학교폭력에 대한 인식의 방향을 정립하는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 심층 그룹 면담을 통해 자료를 수집, 분석하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 유치원교사가 인식하는 학교폭력의 특성은 8가지로 정리할 수 있었다. 둘째, 유아라는 주체의 특성을 고려한다면, 유아간의 폭력적인 문제를 학교폭력이라는 용어로 칭하는 데 어려움이 있다고 보았다. 셋째, 유아 간 폭력적인 문제는 학교폭력으로 칭할 수 없지만 유아 전반에 부정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 보았다. 넷째, 유아 간 폭력적인 문제에 대하여 행동지도 수준에서 대처하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구는 유아교육에서도 학교폭력에 대한 관심을 촉구하며, 학교폭력에 대한 유치원교사의 이해 현황과 인식의 방향을제시하는 데 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to explore kindergarten teachers' understanding and perceptions of school violence in order to establish the use of ‘school violence’ in early childhood education and the direction of the perceptions about school violence that kindergarten teachers should have. Data were collected and analyzed through in-depth group interviews. As a result, first, there were 8 characteristics of school violence as perceived by kindergarten teachers. Second, considering the characteristics of children, there were difficulties in labeling violent problems that occur in relationships between children with ‘school violence’. Third, the violent problems that exist in relationships between children, which cannot be labeled as school violence, were thought to have a negative impact on all children. Fourth, it was found that violent problems between children are dealt with at the level of behavior guidance. This study suggests that school violence needs to be addressed in early childhood education, and that it is important to identify the level of kindergarten teachers’ perceptions and direction on school violence.
