역량 기반 교양 영미고전문학 수업의 교육적 성과 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 역량 기반 교양 영미고전문학 수업의 효과를 학습자의 역량성취 및 역량성취와 수업만족도간의 관계성을 통해 진단하고 분석하여 향후 대학 수업에서 고전교육을 통한 역량의 통합적 성취가가능한 수업 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 H 대학교의 선택교양인 역량 기반 영미고전문학수업에 참여한 78명의 핵심역량 사전-사후 진단결과 및 역량 기반 수업 운영과 평가 방식에 대한만족도 결과를 수집하여, 독립표본 t-검증과 상관관계분석 및 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과첫째, 본 고전문학 수업을 통하여 학습자들의 의사소통역량, 창의역량 및 문제해결효능감이 향상되었다. 둘째, 학습자들은 팀원 간 상호작용과 협업능력 배양, 그리고 토론·토의 능력향상에 대한 만족이높은 것으로 나타나, 팀 기반 수업이 학습자들의 친밀도가 비교적 낮은 교양교육에서는 효과적인 수업설계 방식이 될 수 있음을 시사한다. 또한 평가방식에서 학습자들은 지필고사 부담이 감소된 것에 가장만족하였으며 학습량 증가와 평가준비 부담 및 가시적 평가결과 확인 불가능을 가장 어려운 점으로인식하고 있어, 전문적인 평가준거 개발과 루브릭에 대한 상세한 사전 안내 등의 필요성을 확인해주고있다. 마지막으로, 본 연구 참여자들의 문제해결효능감의 향상은 수업 만족도에 영향을 미치지 않은것으로 나타났는데, 이로써 학습자들에게는 역량수행 활동의 난이도 조절과 학습자의 학습곤란 상황에개입하는 교수자의 능동적 역할이 기대됨을 알 수 있다. 본 연구는 고전문학 교양교육이 고전이 지닌본연의 가치를 유지하면서 학습자들에게 필요한 역량 함양에도 중요한 역할을 할 수 있음을 확인하였다는 점에서 의미를 가진다.

영문 초록

This study aims to diagnose and analyze the effects of competency-based liberal arts British-American classical literatureclasses through learners’ competency achievement and its relationship to class satisfaction. This study also suggests a directionfor integrated achievement of competency through classical education. To this end, pre- and post- competency diagnostictests and a satisfaction questionnaire was collected from 78 students in this elective liberal arts classical literature classat H University. Independent samples t-tests, correlation analyses, and multiple linear regression analyses were conducted. As a result, first, the learners' communication skills, creativity, and problem-solving efficacy were improved. Second, learnerswere highly satisfied with developing interaction and collaboration skills among team members, and with improving theirdebate and discussion skills, suggesting that team-based instruction can be an effective teaching method in liberal arts educationwhere learners are relatively less intimate. In addition, regarding the method of assessment, learners were most satisfiedwith an approach that put less pressure on paper-based exams, and perceived the increase in the amount of learning, theburden of preparation for performance activities, and the inability to check the visible evaluation results as the most difficultpoints. These results demonstrate the need for professional evaluation criteria and prior guidance regarding the class rubric. Finally, this study found that the improvement of the problem-solving efficacy of the participants did not affect class satisfaction,indicating that the instructor’s active role is needed, particularly when it comes to controlling the difficulty of competencyperformance activities, and when intervening on behalf of the student’s regarding their difficulties in learning. This studyis meaningful in that it has confirmed that liberal arts classical literature education can play an important role in cultivatingthe competencies necessary for learners while maintaining the intrinsic value of the classics.
