미디어 영어 수업에 대한 학습자 인식에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 학습자들이 미디어 영어 수업을 통해 영화를 활용한 다양한 영어 학습 활동을진행하고 이에 대한 학습자의 인식을 조사하는 것이었다. 특히 여러 가지 언어 기술 중에서 생산적인표현(productive learning) 기능 즉, 말하기와 쓰기에 중점을 두고자 하였으며 이는 기존의 청해와 표현,발음 위주의 영화 활용 수업에 대한 제한점을 극복하고자 함이었다. 연구참여자는 2023년 2학기 미디어영어 과목을 수강하는 부산 소재 대학교 학생 50명으로 구성되었으며 15주 수업이 끝난 이후 설문지를통해 학습자 인식에 대한 조사를 시행하였다. 영화는 ‘500 Days of Summer(2009)’와 ‘The Intern(2015)’이었으며 한 영화 당 네 개의 파트로 구성하여 강의가 진행되었다. 설문지 질문은 영화에 대한 흥미도,영화 활용 수업에 대한 흥미도, 영화 활용 수업에 대한 효과 등에 관한 내용이 포함되었다. 설문지결과를 바탕으로 영화 활용 수업에 대한 학습자 인식에 관하여 교육적 시사점을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to conduct Media English Class using movies by implementing various activities and toinvestigate the learners' perceptions of it. In particular, among various language skills, it was intended to focus on productivelearning, that is, speaking and writing. In order to overcome the limitations of the existing classes using movies that focuson listening & comprehension and native-like pronunciation. The study participants consisted of 50 university students inBusan who took media English courses in the second semester of 2023, and after the 15-week class was over, a questionnairewas conducted regarding the on learner's perception. The films were ‘500 Days of Summer (2009)’ by Marc Webb and‘The Internal (2015)’ by Nancy Meyers, and lectures were conducted in four parts for each film. The questionnaire consistedof questions related to the student’s interest in movies, and the effects of movies in language learning, satisfaction of themovie’s authentic feature. Based on the results of the questionnaire, educational implications were presented for the learners'perceptions of movies.
