춘소(春沼) 신최(申最)의 11원(十一原) 연구

국문 초록

본고의 목적은 조선 중기 문인 신최의 11원(十一原)을 논의하는 것이다. 신최는 조선 중기 문장을 주도한 인물로서, 중국의 다양한 문장론을 수용하였다. 11원은 사회 전반에 걸친 11가지의 주제에 대해, 원이라는 문체로 의견을 피력한 글이다. 원은 입론 과정에서 근본을 추적하는 ‘추본소원(推本所原)’ 절차를 거쳐 작자가 내세우는 주장의 정당성을 강조한 문체이다. 연구 방법은 원 문체의 유래와 조선문단의 상황을 살펴본 후, 11원(十一原)을 분석하였다. 풍속과 민생, 예악 중심의 정치, 인재 등용이라는 세 범주를 설정하여, 내용과 형식을 구명하였다. 11개의 글은 각각이 완결성을 지니고 있는 동시에 유기적으로 연결되어 있어서 고도의 기획력이 반영되어 있었다. 문장은 매우 체계적이고 절제되어 조선 중기 산문의 수준을 가늠할 수 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to discuss 11Won(十一原) of Shin Choi, a writer in the mid-Joseon period. As a leading figure in writing in the mid-Joseon Dynasty, Shin Choi accepted various literary theories of China. 11Won(十一原) is an article expressing opinions in the style of circle on 11 topics across society. Won(原) is a style of writing that emphasizes the legitimacy of the author's claim through the process of 'chubonsowon (推本所原)', which traces the root in the process of introduction. As for the research method, after examining the origin of the original style and the situation of the Joseon literary world, 11Won(十一原) was analyzed. By setting three categories: customs and people's livelihood, politics centered on courtesy and music, and recruitment of talented people, the content and form were investigated. Each of the 11 writings has completeness and is organically connected, reflecting a high level of planning power. The sentences are very systematic and restrained, so the level of prose in the mid-Joseon period can be judged.
