과학고 학생들의 R&E 연구활동반에 따른 화학 과목의 인식론적 신념과 화학 학업성취도에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 과학고등학교 1학년 과학 및 수학 R&E 연구활동반에 따른 화학 과목에 대한 인식론적 신념과 화학 학업성취도에미치는 영향에 대해 연구하였다. 방법 경남 소재 G 과학고 1학년 학생 96명을 대상으로 2023년 4월부터 9월까지 6개월간 화학 과목에 대한 인식론적 신념을 설문하여 분석하였다. 화학 과목의 학업성취도는 1학년 1학기 화학II 학기말 성적을 ‘상’과 ‘하’ 수준별로 구분하여 활용하였고, R&E 연구활동반에 따른 화학 과목의 인식론적 신념을 비교하기 위해 기술통계, 교차분석, 비모수 검정 등을 SPSS 28 프로그램으로 분석하였다. 결과 R&E 연구활동반별로 화학 과목의 인식론적 신념에 대한 설문 결과에서 화학 R&E 반이 다른 R&E 반에 비해 호의적 응답률이높게 나타났고, 특히, ‘결과’ 요인에서는 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 화학 과목에 대한 인식론적 신념의 호의적 응답률이높을수록 화학 학업성취도가 높게 나타났고, ‘수학관련’과 ‘개념관련’ 세부 요인에서 ‘상’과 ‘하’ 수준 사이에 통계적으로 유의미한차이가 나타났다. 결론 화학 R&E 반은 화학 과목에 관심과 흥미가 높은 학생들이 선택하므로, 화학 지식이 기술에 적용되어 사회에 기여하는데 대해호의적 응답률이 높은 학문 분야로 인지하고 있다. 따라서 창의적인 화학 R&E 연구 활동을 통해, 주변 현상을 설명하는데 화학 지식(이론, 개념, 등)이 유용한 학문임을 인식하고 있으며, ‘결과’, ‘실험관련’, ‘시각화’, 등의 세부 요인에서 높은 호의적 응답률이 나타났다. 한편, 수학 R&E 반 학생들은 이론이 실제로 시각화되고, 현실에 적용되는 것을 원하고 있었다. 과학고 학생들은 각 교과목의특성 이해하고, 그 교과목의 특성과 자신의 관심과 흥미 분야가 일치하도록 해당 R&E 반을 선택하였으며, 그 분야의 내용 이해를바탕으로 자신들의 R&E 탐구활동 결과물이 기술과 결합되어 사회에 기여되길 원하는 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study studied the epistemological beliefs and effects of the science and mathematics R&E research activity group on chemistry academic achievement in the first year of science high school. Methods 96 first-year G Science High School students in Gyeongnam were surveyed and analyzed for epistemological beliefs in chemistry for six months from April to September 2023. The academic achievement of chemistry subjects was used by dividing the grades at the end of the first semester of chemistry in the first semester of the first year by ‘high’ and ‘low’ levels. Descriptive statistics, cross-analysis, and nonparametric tests were analyzed with SPSS 28 programs to compare epistemological beliefs in chemistry subjects according to the R&E research activity group. Results In the results of a survey on epistemological beliefs in chemistry subjects for each R&E research activity group, the chemistry R&E class showed a higher favorable response rate than other R&E classes, and in particular, there was a statistically significant difference in the ‘outcome’ factor. The higher the favorable response rate of epistemological beliefs to chemistry subjects, the higher the chemical academic achievement, and there was a statistically significant difference between the ‘upper’ and ‘lower’ levels in the ‘math link’ and ‘concepts’ detailed factors. Conclusions Since chemistry R&E classes are selected by students who are interested and interested in chemistry subjects, it is recognized as an academic field with a high favorable response rate for chemical knowledge to be applied to technology and contribute to society. Therefore, through creative chemical R&E research activities, they recognized that chemical knowledge (theories, concepts, etc.) is helpful in explaining surrounding phenomena, and a high favorable response rate was found in detailed factors such as ‘outcome,’ ‘laboratory,’ ‘visualization,’ etc. Science high school students selected the R&E class to understand the characteristics of each subject and to match the characteristics of the subject with their interests and areas of interest, and based on the understanding of the contents of the field, they wanted the results of their R&E inquiry activities to be combined with technology and contributed to society.
