국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 STEAM 기반 요리 활동이 유아의 사회적 능력과 과학적 문제해결력에 미치는 효과를 밝히고자 하였다. 방법 본 연구는 G 광역시에 위치한 M 유아교육기관에 재원 중인 만 5세 유아 20명을 대상으로 단일집단 실험처치 연구를 설계하고본 연구를 위해 STEAM 기반 요리활동을 개발하였다. STEAM 기반 요리 활동의 효과를 살펴보기 위해 2023년 4월 10일부터2023년 6월 9일까지 총 9주 동안 주 3회, 1회당 대략 40분씩 총 21회 유아에게 요리활동을 실시하였다. 참여 유아에게 STEAM 기반 요리활동 참여 전⋅후에 사회적 능력과 과학적 문제해결력 검사를 실시하여 자료를 수집하였으며, 대응표본 t-검증을 실시하여 효과를 분석하였다. 결과 첫째, STEAM 기반 요리 활동 참여 유아의 사회적 능력 전체와 하위요소 검사 결과의 사전-사후 점수는 통계적으로 유의미한차이를 나타내었다. 둘째, STEAM 기반 요리 활동 참여 유아의 과학적 문제해결력 검사 결과의 사전-사후 점수는 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 나타내었다. 결론 유아 대상의 STEAM 교육 활동 개발 방향 및 적용 방법 모색 그리고 효과 예측 등 다양한 STEAM 교육 활동 개발을 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있다는 점에서 연구의 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study aimed to reveal the effects of STEAM-based cooking activities on young children's social skills and scientific problem-solving skills. Methods This study conducted STEAM-based cooking activities developed for this study through single-group experimental treatment and pre- and post-tests on 20 5-year-old children attending M early childhood education institution located in G Metropolitan City on April 10, 2023. It was conducted a total of 21 times, approximately 40 minutes each time, 3 times a week for a total of 9 weeks from January 1st to June 9, 2023. In order to examine the effectiveness of the developed STEAM-based cooking activity, data were collected on the social abilities and scientific problem-solving skills of participating children through pre- and post-tests before and after participating in the STEAM-based cooking activity. The collected data were compared to the paired sample t- Verification was conducted and the effect was analyzed. Results First, STEAM-based cooking activities showed statistically significant differences in the pre- and post-scores of children's overall social skills and sub-elements. Second, STEAM-based cooking activities showed statistically significant differences in pre- and post-scores of children's scientific problem-solving skills. Conclusions The significance of the study is that it predicts the development direction, application, and effectiveness of STEAM educational activities for young children and can be used as basic data for the development of various educational activities.
