대학생들의 윤리의식에 비추어본 역량기반 교양교육의 필요성과 한계

국문 초록

역량기반 교육이 가시화된 이후 학문의 고유한 가치를 훼손하고 있다는 우려와 대학의 공적 기능을 약화시킨다는 비판이 공론화되고 있는 가운데, 역량기반 교육의 가능성, 개선점 등에 대한 논의도 누적되고 있다. 후자의 관점에서 이야기하는 공통항은, 기존의 학문중심 교육과정과 보완적인 관계, 즉 지식과 학문적 바탕 위에서 실제 상황에 적용할 수 있는 연결고리의 역할로서 역량기반 교육을 이해하는 것이 필요하다는 점이다. 본 논문은 역량기반 인문교양교육을 실행한 후, 후자의 관점에서 논의를 확장했다. 교양교육은 인간됨, 인간으로서의성장을 중시하는 자유교육의 전통을 이어왔다. 자유교육이 인간의 잠재능력의 현실화에 가치를 두었다면, 역량기반 교육과정에서 실천적 기능을 강조하면서 제시한 문제해결 능력, 비판능력, 분석능력, 의사소통능력 등은 기존의 교양교육과정에서 추구했던 내용과 본질적인 면에서는 다르지 않다. 그랬을 때, 현재 교양교육에서 사회적 실천, 현실적 경험 조직으로 가장 가치를 두어야 할 것은 윤리의식을 함양하는 것, 구체적으로는 부끄러움을 경험하고, 알 수 있도록 하는 것이무엇보다 필요함을 역설했다. 연구대상은 C대학교 인문교양 교과목의 TBL 수행과제물로 학습자의 서술태도를 분석하였다. 그 결과 학습자들은신자본주의 체제와 산업자본이 제공하는 생태계를 비판적으로 사유하지 못 하고, 신자본주의 체제의 작동방식을 그대로내면화하고 있다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이 지점에서 앎의 실천을 강조하는 역량기반 교양교육의 필요성을 강조했다. 그러나 현실적으로 학습자의 실천에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 교육내용과 방법을 고민하는 것은 교수자 개인의 몫으로 남겨진다는 것이 가장 큰 문제이다. 이 연구는 역량기반 교양교육의 실제 문제 연구에 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

While concerns about competence-based education have become a public issue regarding its compromising the intrinsic value of learning, along with the criticism of its weakening the public function of universities, discussion on the possibilities and improvements of such education has also been accumulated. The common argument from the latter point of view is that competence-based education needs to be understood in a complementary relationship with the existing learning-centered curriculum, that is, as a link that can be applied to actual educational settings based on knowledge and academic background. This study extended the discussion from the latter point of view after implementing competencebased liberal arts education. Liberal arts education has continued the tradition of liberal education that values humanity and growth as a human being. If liberal education has placed value on the realization of human potential, the problem-solving skills, critical ability, analytical ability, and communication skills, which competence-based curricula have presented with an emphasis on practical functions, do not differ essentially from what is pursued in the existing liberal arts curricula. In this regard, this study underlined that the greatest value should be put on cultivating ethical consciousness, that is, more specifically, helping students experience and understand a sense of shame, as part of social practice and practical experience organizational education. The subjects of this study were TBL performance tasks of the liberal arts curriculum of C University, and the descriptive attitude of learners was analyzed. As a result, it was confirmed that learners could not critically think about the environment provided by the neo-capitalist system and industrial capital, and internalized the way of operating the new capitalist system. At this point, it emphasized the necessity of competence-based liberal arts education that emphasizes the practice of awareness. However, the biggest problem is that it is left to the individual of the instructor to think about the contents and methods that can affect the practice of the learner in reality. This study can be used for the actual problem study of competency-based liberal arts education.
