국문 초록

오늘날 거짓 뉴스가 난무하고, 재난의 상황 속에서 가해자와 피해자를 이분법적으로 분리하여 혐오와 증오를 이용하는 사회적 혼란을 경험하고 있는 현대인들에게 영화 는 여전히 유효한 의미를 남긴다. 사회적 체제의 부실함이 개인의 부실과 어떻게 연결되고, 그러한 사회에서 개인의 일탈이 얼마나 큰 파장과 혼란을 불러일으키는지 여실히 보여준다. 그리고 상호불신과 감시, 판단이 거짓과 함께 대중 속에서 작용하는지 볼 수 있다. 본 연구는 프리츠 랑의 영화 를사회적 맥락과 함께 내재적 의미의 시각화가 어떻게 이루어졌는지 장르적 특징 속에서 분석하고자 한다. 오늘에도 유효한 사회적 의미를 발견하고, 장르적 특징 가운데 장면을 분석하여 표현기법을 발굴함과 동시에 활용 가능성을 찾아볼 것이다. 1930년대 초반, 반동의 시대를 겪는 바이마르 공화국을 배경으로 영화 는 사회적 불의와 모순을 고발한다. 패전과 공황의 일련 상황이 시민들의 자존감에 상처를 주었고, 정치와 경제적 불안, 법적 안정성의 취약이 상호 불신에 힘을실어 주었다. 나치스 정권의 집권으로 이어지는 불의한 시대적 흐름을 영화는 예견이라도 하듯이 사회적 불안과 미완의모습을 담아냈다. 1931년 개봉 당시의 사회적 흐름은 되돌리기 어려운 가속화한 진행속도를 보이고 있었고, 시대를 담아낸 영화는 결국 다가올 역사를 보여줄 수밖에 없었다. 이를 통해 시대적 배경을 고발한 영화는 미래를 보여주는 기능을수행한다고 볼 수 있다. 오늘의 시대를 살아가는 현대인들에게도 영화의 기능은 충분히 작용하고 있다. 영화 는 무성영화에서 한걸음 더 나아간 영화사적 단계에서 다차원적 기법을 활용하여 관객에게 상상의 가능성을 부여했다. 조명과빛의 활용, 영화에 등장하는 장치들 – 계단과 거울, 그림자의 배치는 시대적 암울과 불안, 공포, 상실과 부재, 모순을 지적한다. 도시가 개인에게 미치는 여러 가지 작용들을 사각지대의 발굴로서 보여주고 있고, 철학과 정신이 부재한 시민 사회의 모습을 미래적 경고로서 투영하고 있다. 현대사회는 빠른 속도로 변하고 있다. 새로운 과학문명과 기술이 인류를 기다리고 있고, 발 빠르게 적응하는 이들을통해 자본이 흐르는 것을 보고 경험할 수 있다. 그런데 철학적 담론이 부족한 시대에 인간의 욕망이 이러한 흐름을 이용할 때, 사회는 천박한 방향으로 정신적 공황을 경험하게 될 것이다. 오늘에도 도시화의 영향은 무시할 수 없다. 근대 도시화의 결과를 현대 시민들이 여전히 관리하고 있다고 볼 수 있다. 영화 는 범죄를 다루는 영화를 넘어서 시대적 모든 영역의 모순을 우리가 점검하도록 재촉하는 도구로서 기능할 수 있고, 불편한 우리의 모습을 오늘에도 유효하게 바라보도록 호소하고 있다.

영문 초록

Nowadays, fake news is rampant and modern people experience social confusion from the separation of the assailant and the victim during disasters based on a dichotomous viewpoint to exploit hatred and detestation. In this situation, film still stands with a valid meaning. It vividly shows how the weak social system is connected to individual weaknesses, and also how major ripple effects and confusion could be aroused by personal deviation from society. In addition, it shows how mutual distrust, surveillance, and judgment, along with falsehood, affect the public. This study aims to analyze the film by Fritz Lang by focusing on the social context and visualization of intrinsic meaning through the genre characteristics. This study will identify social meaning that is still effective in the present and the scenes will be analyzed based on the genre characteristics to excavate expression techniques and at the same time, search for the applicability. is a film with the background of the Weimar Republic which faced an age of recoil during the early 1930s, and the film discloses about social injustice and contradiction. The series of situations, such as defeat and panic, degraded citizens self-esteem, and the political and economic anxiety and vulnerability of legal safety increased mutual distrust. The film expressed the images of social instability and incompletion as if it predicted the unjust flow of the times that led to the control by the Nazi regime. When the film was released in 1931, the social trend was accelerating to the point where it was difficult to turn back, and the film that reflected on the trend of the times naturally showed the history that was eventually drawing near. Through this, the film denounces the background of the times and functions to show the future. The functions of films still affect the modern people of the current times. is a film that took a step forward from being a silent film and utilized multi-dimensional techniques in the cinematic stage to authorize the audience with imaginative possibilities. The use of lighting and light, devices that appear in the film- stairs and mirrors, and the arrangement of the shadow criticizes the periodic depression and anxiety, fear, a sense of extinction and absence, and contradiction. The multiple influences caused by the city on individuals are shown through the excavation of the blind area, and the image of the citizens and society with the absence of philosophy and spirit are projected as a warning of the future. Modern society is evolving rapidly. New scientific civilization and technology await mankind, and the flow of the capital can be witnessed and experienced through those who adapt quickly. However, when human desires take advantage of this flow in an era with lacking psychological discourse, society will experience mental panic that leads towards a shallow direction. In the present day, the influence of urbanization cannot be overlooked. It can be said that modern citizens still manage the outcomes of modern urbanization. is a film that is more than just a film about crimes, as it functions as a tool that presses us to inspect the contradictions in all periodic realms and appeals for us to effectually pay attention to our disturbing images.
