국문 초록

이 글의 목적은 2022년 한국-베트남 수교 30주년을 앞둔 시점에서 양국의 문화 가치에 주목하여 그 특성을 비교하기위한 것이다. 본 연구는 홉스테드(Hofstede)의 문화 차원 지수와 세계가치관조사(WVS) 7차 자료를 이용한 실증 분석결과를 비교 검토하는 작업을 시도하였다. 홉스테드의 문화 가치 분석에 따르면 한국과 베트남의 권력거리, 개인주의, 그리고 남성문화 차원의 지수는 유사한 것으로 나타났지만 조작적 정의를 통한 통계 분석에서는 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이 글에서 주목하는 문화 가치에 관한 검토를 기반으로 양국이 상호 간 이해의 공감대를 증진시키고 지속가능한발전을 해나갈 수 있기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

The year of 2022 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between South Korea and Vietnam. The purpose of this paper is to focus on the cultural values of two countries and to compare their characteristics. This study attempted an empirical analysis using raw data of 7th wave of World Values Survey based on Hofstede’s theory of the cultural dimension. According to Hofstede Insights, PDI(Power Distance), IDV(Individualism), and MAS(Masculinity) of S. Korea and Vietnam were found to be similar but the statistical analysis results of this study through an operational definition showed differences. It is time for the relationship between S. Korea and Vietnam to go beyond simply confirming intimacy and make efforts to understand the subtle differences. It is hoped that the two countries will be able to promote a consensus of mutual understanding and achieve sustainable development.
