예술번역으로서의 시각화 고찰

국문 초록

시각문화가 지배적인 현대사회에서 예술 장르간의 소통과 호환은 중요한 가치지향점이자 방법일 수 있다. 특히 문학콘텐츠의 시각화에서 시각예술가를 통한 중첩된 창발이 이끄는 창의성의 발현은 독보적이다. 하나의 예술이 다른 장르의예술을 창작 원형으로 삼아 재창작되는 과정과 ‘사이 공간’을 주목할 필요가 있다. 예술에 예술이 더해지는 문학콘텐츠의 시각화는 독자 및 관람자의 감상과 사고의 지평을 확장하는 것은 물론이고, 예술창작의 활동에 있어서도 새로운 국면의 장을 이끈다. ‘예술번역’은 예술 장르간의 전환에 있어서 후발 예술작가가 선행예술작품에 접속하고, 그것을 소환하고, 융합하고, 상호침투하고, 변이하고, 재배치하면서 이루는 일련의 재창작의 과정을 총체적으로 아우르는 표현이다. ‘예술번역’의 관점에서 예술 장르의 전환 과정을 살펴보고, 그 고찰한 결과가 어떠한특징과 속성을 나타내는지를 규명하고자 한다. ‘예술번역’의 개념과 이론적 토대를 ‘비평적 번역이론’과 탈식민주의를 중심으로 하는 ‘문화번역’이론에 기초하여 구축하고, 이를 기반으로 ‘예술번역’의 관점에서 시각화 사례를 연구하였다. 이상의 시 ｢나는 장난감 신부와 결혼한다｣를 미술작가 이수경이 조형예술작품 <달빛 왕관_시인 이상의 장난감 신부>로 재창작한 작품을 예술번역의 관점에서 고찰하였다. 본고는 이러한 예술번역으로서의 시각화 과정에 예술가의 창의성이 중첩적으로 발현되는 바, 예술 활동에 대한 새로운 인식 재고는 물론이고, 유연한 사유와 창의적 기획에 시사를 제공한다.

영문 초록

This sort of communication and compatibility between different art types may be the value-oriented method within this modern society dominated by visual culture. The creative revelation led by the overlapping concepts made through visual artists within the visualization of literary content is undeniably peerless. It is necessary for one form of art to set the art of another form as its basis and for us to focus on the process of this recreation and the in between. Not only is the visualization of literary content, such as art being added onto art, capable of expanding the minds of readers and observers, but it also opens a new page to the creation of art. Art translation is an expression that encompasses a series of recreation procedures carried out by later artists connecting, ingesting, fusing, interpenetrating, changing, and rearranging preceding artworks. The transition process between art fields from an art translation perspective will be explained. Furthermore, the characteristics and properties that were revealed during this study will be detailed. The concept and theoretical foundation of ‘art translation’ were established based on ‘critical translation theory’ and ‘cultural translation’ based on postcolonialism. A visualization instance was researched from an art translation process based on this concept and theoretical foundation. This study will observe artist Lee Soogyeong’s sculpture , which is a recreation of Lee Sang’s poem I WED A TOY BRIDE , from an art translation perspective. This thesis will not only reveal the overlapping creativity of an artist during the process of visualization, but it will also provide new ideas for art activities and provide implications for flexible thinking and creative planning.
