국문 초록

다큐멘터리는 있었던 일을 가장 진실하게 전달하는 것을 목적으로 하는 예술 장르이다. 이 장르는 2000년도부터 과거의 기록을 수집하여 그 사항을 전달하는 데에 머물지 않고 연극의 형태로 관객과 함께 사실을 꾸밈없이 만들어가는 새로운 형태의 다큐멘터리가 등장하였다. 이를 뉴다큐멘터리라고 일컫는다. 뉴다큐멘터리에서는 관객에게 이미 편집되거나이미 지나간 사건을 게시하는 것이 아닌 관객이 있는 자리에서 숨김없이 진행된 사항을 작품화함으로서 그 ‘진실성(truthfulness)’을 더욱 분명하게 드러낸다. 본고에서는 현재 정치적인 다큐켄터리의 선두에 선 연출 밀로 라우와 그의 작품 <콩고 재판(Congo Tribunal)>과 <뉴가스펠(the New Gospel)>을 뉴다큐멘터리의 새로운 형태로 분석한다. 특히, 뉴다큐멘터리에서 강조하는 것이 ‘진실성(truthfulness)’과 ‘실제성(reality)’임에 집중하여 밀로 라우의 작품이 이를 어떻게 실현하는지를 연구한다.

영문 초록

Documentary is an art genre aimed at delivering what has happened most truthfully. Since the year 2000, this genre ha s emerged a new form of documentary that does not stop at collecting past records and delivering them, but creates facts with the audience in the form of plays. This is called the ‘new documentary’. In the New Documentary, the “truthfulness” is revealed more clearly by not posting events that have already been edited or already passed to the audience, but by making them a work that has been carried out without hiding in the presence of the audience. In this paper, Milo Lau, who is currently at the forefront of political documentaries, and his works and are analyzed as new forms of new documentaries. In particular, we focus on ‘truthfulness’ and ‘reality’ that are emphasized in the New Documentary to study how Milo Lau s work realizes this.
