고등학생의 과학탐구에 대한 관점 및 과학탐구실험 과목에 대한 인식

국문 초록

과학탐구실험 과목은 9학년까지의 과학을 학습한 모든 학생들을 대상으로 과학 탐구 능력 및 핵심 역량을 향상시키기 위해 2015 개정 과학과 교육과정에서 새롭게 신설된 과목이다. 그동안 과학 탐구는 과학과 교육과정이 개정될 때마다 그 중요성이 강조되어왔지만, 계열 구별 없이 모든 고등학생이 필수교과로 과학탐구실험이라는 과목을 이수하도록 신설한 것은 매우 이례적이다. 이러한 흐름은 최근 과학 탐구의 본성을 과학의 본성과 분리하여 새롭게 강조하는 측면에서도 나타나고 있다. 그러나 선행 연구를 살펴보면 과학 탐구의 본성과 관련된 국내 연구는 여전히 매우 부족한 편이며, 과학탐구실험 과목에 대해서도 학습의 주체인 학생 보다는 학습을 지원해 주는 교사나 운영 체제에 더 많은 관심이 집중되는 경향이 나타난다. 이에 본 연구에서는 고등학교 1학년 278명(10개 학급)을 대상으로 과학 탐구에 대한 관점을 분석하고 고등학교 학생들의 과학탐구실험 과목에 대한 기대와 인식을 알아보고자 하였다. 연구 결과 학생들은 과학자 수행, 과학적 탐구, 자료와 증거의 차이, 과학 지식의 정당화 방법에 대해서 초보적인 관점을 보였다. 과학 탐구 실험 과목에 대해서 긍정적인 기대를 가지고 있으나 과학 탐구 실행에 대해 수동적인 자세를 취하고 있었다. 학생들의 과학 탐구의 본성에 대한 견해 및 과학탐구실험 과목에 대한 기대를 이해하고 학교 현장의 다양한 과학 탐구 맥락에서 2015 개정 과학 교육과정의 목표가 바람직하게 달성될 수 있는 기초자료로 본 연구의 결과가 활용되기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

The subject of Scientific Inquiry Experiment has been newly introduced in the 2015 revised science curriculum in order to enhance the core competencies and skills in scientific inquiry of all students who have been taught in the sciences up to ninth grade. Even though the importance of scientific inquiry was emphasized whenever science curriculum were revised, it was very unusual for all of high school students to take the Scientific Inquiry Experiment as a compulsory subject regardless of their major. This trend is also reflecting on the separation of the nature of scientific inquiry from the nature of science. However, the previously domestic studies show that the research on the nature of scientific inquiry is still insufficient and the study of scientific inquiry and experiment as a curriculum subject is focused not on students directly concerned but only on supporting and maintaining teachers or systems. Therefore, this study is aimed at analyzing the expectations, perceptions, and viewpoints of high school students for scientific inquiry and the Scientific Inquiry Experiment with targeting 278 first-grade hight school students. As a result of the study, many students had a naive view of the scientist performing, scientific inquiry, the difference between data and evidence, and the justification process of science knowledge. In addition, they had positive expectations for the Scientific Inquiry Experiment subjects, but showed a passive attitude for performing scientific inquiry. This results are expected to provide core data for understanding the expectations and viewpoints of students for Scientific Inquiry Experiment and achieving the goals of the 2015 revised science curriculum in various in-situ conditions on high schools.
