전래동화에 나타난 아동의 가족

국문 초록

본 연구는 전래동화에 나타난 아동의 가족의 모습을 알아보기 위하여 진행되었다. 이를 위해 한국 전래동화집의 동화 280편중에서 아동의 가족이 등장하는 이야기 69편을 대상으로 내용을 분석하였다. 우리나라 전래동화에서 아동의 가족은 부모와 남아, 모자 및 부자로 구성된 가족의 이야기가 많았다. 내용 분석을 통해 전래동화에서의 가족의 모습을 부모, 아동, 형제로 나누어 각각 범주화하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 전래동화에서 아동의 부모는 주로 자녀를 가르치고 교육의 기회를 제공하는 사람, 자녀와 소통하며 정서적으로 교류하는 사람이었다. 또 아동의 생명을 지키며, 가족으로 자녀를, 그 중에도 아들을 소망하는 사람, 그러나 자녀에게 부정적 행동도 하는 것으로 묘사되었다. 둘째, 가족 구성원으로서 아동의 모습은 부모의 뜻을 따르는 모습으로 가장 많이 나타났다. 또한 자신의 삶을 개척하고 부모에게 깨우침을 주었으며, 부모의 문제 및 위기극복에 도움을 주었다. 부모를 부양하는 효를 실천하였고, 때로 가정의 생산 활동에도 참여하였다. 셋째, 전래동화에서 아동의 형제는 상호 의지·협조하는 모습을 많이 보이지만 대립되는 모습도 보였다. 대립의 주요인은 재산에 대한 욕심, 시샘 등이었다. 전래동화에 나타난 전통사회의 아동의 가족의 모습으로부터 시사점을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The aim of this study was to analyze the aspects of children’s families in Korean folktales. For this, 69 stories regarding children’s families out of 280 Korean folktales were analyzed. Children’s families in Korean folktales were mostly about stories of families composed of parent and son, mother and son, and father and son. Through this study, the aspects of families in Korean folktales were divided into parent, child, sibling, and further categorized respectively. As a result of this analysis, first, parents in Korean folktale were mainly pictured as ones teaching their children and providing educational opportunities, and communicating and having emotional interaction with their children. Furthermore, parents were portrayed as those who protected children’s lives and hoped for children, especially sons, as family member. However, there were also descriptions of parents exhibiting negative behavior toward their children. Second, children, as a member of a family, were mainly depicted as being obedient to one’s parents. Also, They were often depicted as ones actively cultivating one’s life, enlightening one’s parents and supporting them in overcoming problems and crises. Moreover, children put into practice hyo(filial duty) by taking care of one’s parent and, once in a while, contributed to the family’s production activity. Third, siblings in Korean folktales showed not only interdependent, cooperative relationships but also contrasting relationships. Contrasting relationships was mainly due to greed for wealth, jealousy, and more. In result, this study has discussed the implications exhibited in children s families in traditional society in Korean folktale.
