벌점회귀모형을 활용한 중학생의 학교만족과 학업성취에 영향을 미치는 변인 탐색

국문 초록

이 연구는 벌점회귀모형을 활용하여 중학생의 학교만족에 영향을 미치는 변인을 탐색하였다. 특히, 기존 연구의 한계를 극복하고 대규모 패널조사자료가 담고 있는 방대한 변인을 모두 활용하기 위해 데이터 마이닝 기법을 이용하여 기존 연구와 차별점을 두었다. 구체적으로 이 연구에서는 한국아동·청소년패널조사 2018의 1차년도 자료를 빅데이터 분석에 자주 이용되는 벌점회귀모형 중 LASSO 회귀를 사용하여 분석하였다. 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학업성취도, 삶의 만족도, 자아존중감, 친구관계 등이 학교만족을 설명하는 요인이었으며, 특히 학업성취도가 학교만족에 가장 큰 영향을 미치고 있었다. 둘째, 학습시간, 학습의욕, 교사관계, 가구소득 등이 학업성취를 설명하는 요인이었으나, 기존연구에서 학업성취를 설명하는 주요 변인이었던 학교만족은 학업성취와의 연관을 확인할 수 없었다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 시사점과 후속 연구를 위한 제언을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

This study used a penalized regression model to explore variables that affect school satisfaction and academic achievement of middle school students. In particular, to overcome the limitations of the previous studies and take advantage of the vast variables contained in large-scale panel survey, data mining techniques were used to discriminate from the previous studies. Specifically, in this study, the first year data of KCYPS 2018 was analyzed using LASSO regression among the penalized regression model that frequently used for big data analysis. The major results are as follows. First, academic achievement, life satisfaction, self-esteem, and friendship were the factors that explained school satisfaction, and especially academic achievement had the greatest influence on school satisfaction. Second, learning time, learning motivation, relationship with teacher, and household income were the factors that explained academic achievement, but school satisfaction, which was the major variable that explained academic achievement in the previous study, could not confirm the association with academic achievement. Based on these results, the implications and suggestions for further research were presented.
