학부전공유형에 따른 유아미술교사 전문성에 대한 인식 비교 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 교육경력 10년 이상이며 현재 유아 교육기관에서 근무하고 있는 미술 전담교사를 대상으로 전문성에 대해 분석해 보고, 학부전공 유형에 따른 인식의 차이를 비교 탐구하였다. 2019년 1월부터 9월까지 약 40주 동안 실기전공 배경의 교사 3명과 비실기전공 배경의 교사 3명을 심층 면담하여 미술수업에 있어 요구되는 전문성을 그들의 경험을 중심으로 분석하여 공통점과 차이점을 도출하였다. 그 결과 미술에 대한 진지성, 견고성, 즉흥성의 공통점과 예술가적 창조 경험의 유무, 미적 요소 제시의 유무, 학문 지향성의 유무의 차이점을 파악하였다. 유아 미술교사는 초·중등학교의 미술교사 보다 다양한 배경 변인을 포함하고 있어 학부 전공유형이 매우 다채롭다. 실기전공 배경의 교사는 미술을 평생 목적적 가치로 수행해오며 미술 관련 전문적, 직관적 지식에 탁월하다. 그리고 비실기전공 배경의 교사는 아동의 발달 특성과 교육학, 교수 방법적 지식 형성에 대한 훈련과 연구가 능숙하다. 이는 유아 교육기관에서의 미술교사의 정체감에 대해 확인하는 계기가 되었고 미술전공자 교사와 비전공자 교사의 차이와 다양성을 융합하고 보완할 필요를 시사함으로 유아 미술교육의 발전을 도모할 수 있을 것이라 기대한다.

영문 초록

High-quality early childhood art education involves skilled teachers deploying art activities using original art elements for developing an aesthetic perception in children. A wide range of background variables need to be considered for early childhood art teachers when compared to their elementary and middle school counterparts, as their undergraduate majors may be diverse. Teachers who have a practical art major degree practice art that holds terminal value and possess superior professional and intuitive knowledge related to art. Teachers who have a non-practical art major background are well-trained and proficient at conducting research related to the developmental characteristics of children and art education and knowledge formation within teaching methods. Using a qualitative research methodology, this study compared and explored the expertise of art teachers based on their experience and background. The findings showed that all art teachers shared the commonalities of seriousness, solidarity, and spontaneity in imparting art education, but displayed significant differences based on their art creation experience, their ability to present aesthetic elements, and their academic orientation. This research offers an opportunity to examine and compare the identity of art teachers in early childhood education. The findings suggest the need to unify and supplement the differences and diversity among art major and art non-major teachers to contribute toward advancing art education in young children.
