과학관 전시물과 대학 교양교육 콘텐츠 분석을 통한 인류세 교육 방안 모색

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 인류세 관련 과학관 전시물과 대학 교양교육 콘텐츠를 분석하여 인류세 교육의 방향성을 제시하고자 한다. 방법 서울시립과학관을 현장 조사하여 인류세 전시물을 분석 대상으로 선정하였다. 고려대학교 교양교육 콘텐츠인 “인류세와 공존” 단원을 분석하였고, 본 강의의 수강생이 제출한 과제물을 연구 자료로 활용하였다. 결과 인류세의 심각한 위기 속에서 비형식적 교육기관인 과학관의 전시물과 형식적 교육기관인 대학교의 교양교육 콘텐츠를 분석하여 교육적 의의를 도출하였다. 서울시립과학관의 인류세에 대한 다양한 전시물과 체험 활동은 학생들의 호기심을 자극하며 학습 참여도를 높이고 환경 문제에 대해 깊이 있는 이해를 도모할 수 있다. 대학 교양교육 콘텐츠 “인류세와 공존” 단원은 학생들이 인류세의 개념과 그 심각성을 이해하고, 환경 문제 해결을 위한 과학적 소양을 함양하는 데 중요한 역할을 한다. 결론 본 연구 결과를 통하여 인류세 교육은 과학적 지식 이해와 문제 해결 능력 함양 등의 과학적 소양을 종합적으로 배양하는 데 기여할 수 있다. 다양한 기능과 가치를 중심으로 과학적 소양을 논의하는 것처럼, 인류세 교육에서도 이를 제고하기 위한 새로운 교수 학습 방법, 교과 내용, 활동 프로그램 등을 지속적으로 개발하고 적용해야 한다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study aims to suggest directions for Anthropocene education by analyzing science museum exhibits and university liberal arts education contents related to the Anthropocene. Methods We conducted an on-site investigation at the Seoul Science Center and selected the Anthropocene exhibits as the subject of analysis. We analyzed the “Coexistence with the Anthropocene” unit, a liberal arts education content of Korea University, and used the assignments submitted by students in this course as research materials. Results In the midst of the severe crisis of the Anthropocene, we analyzed the exhibits of science museums, which are informal educational institutions, and the liberal arts education contents of universities, which are formal educational institutions, to derive educational significance. The Seoul Science Center’s diverse exhibits and experiential activities on the Anthropocene can stimulate students’ curiosity, increase their learning participation, and promote a deeper understanding of environmental issues. The “Coexistence with the Anthropocene” unit, a liberal arts education content at university, plays an important role in helping students understand the concept and severity of the Anthropocene and foster scientific literacy for solving environmental problems. Conclusions Through the results of this study, Anthropocene education can contribute to comprehensively cultivating scientific literacy, including understanding scientific knowledge and fostering problem-solving skills. Just as we discuss scientific literacy centered on various functions and values, we must also continuously develop and apply new teaching and learning methods, curriculum content, and activity programs to enhance it in Anthropocene education.
