중학생 대상 문학동아리 프로그램 운영 사례연구: 문학 해석에 미치는 영향을 중심으로

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 중학생을 대상으로 문학동아리 프로그램을 적용하여 문학 해석에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 한다. 방법 연구를 위해 광진구 소재 중학교 1학년과 2학년 학생 8명(남자 5명, 여자 3명)을 대상으로 총 10차시에 걸쳐 문학동아리 활동을 실시하였다. 문학동아리 프로그램 각 단계에서 나타난 참여자들의 반응이 기록된 전사 자료와 활동 결과물, 관찰 일지 등의 자료를 종합하여 분석하였다. 결과 문학동아리 프로그램을 통해 공동체 구성원들과의 적극적인 상호작용을 통해 작품을 깊이 이해하였다. 참여자들은 능동적으로 자신의 반응을 공유하며 문학을 이해하는 과정에서 협력적 담화를 통해 공동의 의미구성이 이루어졌다. 또한 상호작용을 통해 해석이 풍부하게 이루어졌다. 개인적 해석 반응을 공유하면서 수용적 태도를 통해 정서적 표현과 공감의 일반화 과정을 거쳤고, 해석적 질문을 통해 활발한 상호작용이 이루어져 깊이 있는 해석이 나타났다. 결론 문학동아리 프로그램은 적극적인 상호작용을 통해 자발적 참여를 높이고 문학 작품을 깊이 있게 이해하는 활동이 문학 해석 능력 향상에 유리하다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 상호작용을 통해 협력적 의미를 구성하고 텍스트를 풍부하게 이해함으로써 능동적이고 적극적인 문학 경험이 가능함을 알 수 있었다. 문학동아리를 통한 문학적 해석은 기존 문학 교육과 문학의 사회적 독서에 대한 새로운 접근법을 제안한다. 이는 문학 작품에 대한 보다 능동적이고 심층적인 이해를 가능하게 함으로써, 문학 교육과 문학의 사회적 역할 강화에 기여할 것으로 기대된다. 또한, 학교 안과 밖의 교육과정에서도 적극적인 담론을 통한 문학동아리 활동이 활성화되기를 바라는 바이다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to determine the impact on literary interpretation after implementing a literature circles program for middle school students. Methods For this purpose, eight students (five males and three females) in the first and second grades of a middle school in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, Korea, participated in 10 sessions of literature circles activities. The participants' responses at each stage of the literature circles program were analysed through a combination of transcripts, activity products, and observation journals. Results Through the literature circles program, participants deepened their understanding of the works through active interaction with community members. Participants actively shared their responses to the literature, and in the process of understanding the literature, collaborative discourse was used to construct shared meaning, and interpretation was enriched through interaction. Sharing personal interpretive responses led to emotional expression and generalisation of empathy through receptive attitudes, while active interaction through interpretive questions led to deeper interpretation. Conclusions Literature circles program have shown that active interaction, which increases voluntary participation and deepens understanding of literary works, is conducive to improving literary interpretation skills. They also show that interaction enables an active and engaged literary experience through collaborative meaning making and enriched understanding of texts. Literary interpretation through literature circles proposes a new approach to traditional literary education and social reading of literature, which is expected to contribute to strengthening literary education and the social role of literature by enabling a more active and in-depth understanding of literary works. It is also hoped that literature circles will be activated through active discourse in both in-school and out-of-school curricula.
