국경과 경계, 이주에 대한 초등학생들의 인식 분석

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 초등학생의 국경과 경계 그리고 이주에 관한 이해 수준과 그 영향을 파악하고자 한다. 방법 이를 위하여 서울 소재 초등학교 6학년 학생(27명)들의 글쓰기를 Krippendorff(2013)의 질적내용분석(Qualitative Content Analysis)의 방법으로 분석하였다. 결과 국경과 경계에 대한 초등학생들의 글쓰기를 분석한 결과 5개의 상위 주제와 15개의 하위 주제가 도출되었다. 도출된 상위 주제는 각각 ‘국경과 경계의 역할’, ‘국경과 사회적 영향’, ‘국경을 넘는 자격’, ‘국경의 미래’이다. 결론 본 연구를 통해 초등학생들은 경계와 국경, 이주에 대하여 비판적으로 성찰하고 폭넓게 인식하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 학생들은 현재 지구촌에서 발생하고 있는 다양한 분쟁 상황을 이해하고 있었으며, 이로 인한 국경과 경계의 변화 및 이주의 발생 등에 대해 관심을 가지고 있었다. 또한 학생들은 차별적 이주에 관해 문제점을 제시하여 자유로운 이주의 필요성에 대해 언급하기도 하였다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study seeks to understand elementary school students' understanding of borders, boundaries, and migration and their impact. Methods For this purpose, the writings of 6th grade students (n = 27) in elementary schools in Seoul were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. Results After analyzing elementary school students' writing about borders and boundaries, five overarching themes and 15 subthemes emerged. The top themes are ‘The role of borders and boundaries’, ‘Borders and social impacts’, ‘Entitlement to cross borders’, and ‘The future of borders’. Conclusions The study showed that elementary school students have a critical reflection and broad awareness of boundaries, borders, and migration. They understood the various conflicts currently occurring in the world and were concerned about the changes in borders and boundaries and the resulting migration. They also raised the issue of discriminatory migration and spoke about the need for free movement.
