국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 중학교 3학년 학생들이 지각하는 교사와의 관계가 학생의 우울에 영향을 미치는 과정에서 학업무기력이 매개효과를 갖는지 검증하였다. 그리고 이러한 매개과정에서 자아존중감의 조절된 매개효과가 있는지 검증하였다. 방법 이를 위하여 한국아동⋅청소년패널조사 2018(Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey 2018; KCYPS 2018)의 3차년도 자료를 활용하여, 총 2,384명의 중학교 3학년 학생(남학생 1,278명, 여학생 1,106명)을 최종 자료로 사용하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 23.0을 활용하여 기술통계분석, Pearson의 상관관계분석을 하였고 PROCESS MACRO 4.2를 활용하여 분석하였다. 결과 첫째, 학생-교사 관계와 우울 간의 관계에서 학업무기력은 매개효과를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 자아존중감은 학생-교사 관계와 학업무기력 간의 관계를 조절하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 자아존중감의 수준에 따라 학생-교사 관계가 학업무기력을 통해 우울에 미치는 매개효과가 조절되는 것으로 나타났다. 결론 본 연구는 학생-교사 관계와 우울 간의 관계에서 학업무기력의 매개효과를 검증하고 자아존중감의 조절된 매개효과를 확인하였다. 이는 교육과 상담 장면에서 학생들의 우울 예방과 감소를 위해 통합적인 개입방안이 필요함을 제시하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study examined whether academic helplessness mediates the impact of students’ perceived relationships with teachers on their depression in third-year middle school students. Additionally, it explored whether self-esteem has a moderated mediation effect whinin this mediating process. Methods To this end, a total of 2,590 third-year middle school students (1,278 male students and 1,106 female students) were used as the final data using the 3rd year data from the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey 2018. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 23.0 for descriptive statistics and Pearson's correlation analysis, and analyzed using PROCESS MACRO 4.2. Results First, in the relationship between student-teacher relationship and depression, academic helplessness was found to have a mediating effect. Second, it was found that self-esteem moderrated the relationship between student-teacher relationship and academic helplessness. Third, it was verified that the mediating effect of the student-teacher relationship on depression through academic helplessness was moderated according to the level of self-esteem. Conclusions This study verified the mediating effect of academic helplessness in the relationship between student-teacher relationship and depression and confirmed the moderated mediating effect of self-esteem. This is significant in that it suggested that an integrated intervention plan is needed to prevent and reduce students' depression in the scene of education and counseling.
