전통사회의 사회과학으로서 명리학

국문 초록

본 논문은 자연현상에서 도출한 음양오행의 원리가 과학적 논리전개의 상징적인 표현이 된다는 것을 확인시키고자 한다. 그리고 이 원리를 인간과 사회현상에 적용하는 명리학의 방식이 근대 사회과학의 모습과 닮아 있음을 말하고자 한다. 그러므로 동양철학의 고전서적은 음양오행의 원리와 그 원리를 적용하여 당시 사회와 문화를 해석한결과의 정보를 알려주는 것이다. 명리학의 고전류들이 대부분 유교가 지배적이던 사회에서 저술된 것이다 보니 한정된 문화의 형태를 보여주기때문에 일관된 분석의 결과를 보여주는 경향이 있긴 하지만 이것이 이론화 될 수 있는 것은 아닐 것이며 현 사회체제에 적용하기에는 무리가 있을 수밖에 없다. 현 시대에 명리학을 연구한다는 것은 음양오행의 원리를 통한 사고력의 증진과 현대 사회에 대한 이해가 우선시 되어야 할 것이다. 명리학은 당시 사회의 사상과 철학의 실천체제로서의 역할을 암암리에 담당하고 있음을 부정할 수 없으며, 이 시대의 명리학자라면 현 시대의 사상과 철학을 재조명하고 기존 이론에 대한 검증과 비판, 재해석 등의 쇄신하는 노력이 중요하다고 본다.

영문 초록

This paper intends to confirm that the principle of yin-yang and five elements derived from natural phenomena becomes a symbolic expression of scientific logic. And I would like to say that the method of Myungri-hak that applies this principle to human beings and social phenomena resembles that of modern social science. Therefore, classical books of Eastern philosophy provide information about the principles of yin-yang and five elements and the results of interpretation of society and culture at the time by applying those principles. Since most of the classical currents of Myungnihak were written in a society dominated by Confucianism, they tend to show consistent results of analysis because they show a limited form of culture. However, this may not be theorized. And it is bound to be difficult to apply to the current social system. To study Myongri in the present age, the improvement of thinking ability through the principle of Yin-Yang and Five Elements and the understanding of modern society should be prioritized. It cannot be denied that Myongnihak implicitly plays a role as a system of practice for the ideology and philosophy of the society at that time. Therefore, scholars of this era should not neglect their efforts to re-examine and constantly renew the thoughts and philosophies of the present age.
