국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 군 복학생들이 휴대폰 사용 이후 경험했던 군 문화 속 비공식적 관계의 특성을 탐색하고자하는 것이다. 연구 목적을 위해 25명의 복학생이 심층 면담에 참여하였다. 연구 결과, 군대에서는 ‘공동체 시간’과‘개인 시간’이 존재했지만, 공동체 시간으로 인해 개인 시간이 침식되는 등 그 경계는 모호했다. 휴대폰 사용 이후, 개인 시간이 소중해짐에 따라(예: 휴대폰을 통한 휴식) 두 시간의 경계는 분명해졌으며, 결과적으로 군 공동체 중심의 문화와 개인 중심의 문화가 공존하는 계기가 되었다. 문화 속 비공식적 관계는 기존과는 다른 양상을 보였는데, 개별 휴대폰 사용은 병사들의 관계 스트레스를 완화하는 효과를 보였지만, 병사들 간의 유대감을 약화하는원인이 되기도 했다. 이번 연구 결과는 군 관계자들에게 병사들의 군 적응과 군 생활 지속을 위한 학문적 지원과프로그램 개발에 기초적인 자료를 제공했다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to explore the characteristics of informal relationships in military culture that student veterans experienced after using cell phones. For the purpose of this study, 25 student veterans participated in in-depth interviews. As a result of the study, there was time to perform the first duty assignment and personal time for relaxation. However, the boundary between them was vague, such as erosion of personal time due to the military assignments. After the use of mobile phones, as personal time became more precious (e.g., rest through mobile phones), and as a result, the culture centered on the military assignment and culture centered on the individual coexisted. Informal relationships in the military culture were different from the previous ones. The use of individual cell phone had the effect of alleviating the relationship stress of the soldiers, but also weakened the bonds between the soldiers. This knowledge can be helpful as a reference for military personnel who are willing to develop military retention and success programs.
