문학텍스트를 활용한 어린이뮤지컬 매체 전환 연구

국문 초록

오늘날 문학텍스트는 전통적인 문학의 개념과 형식에서 벗어나 새로운 매체와의 결합을 통해 다양한 문화콘텐츠로 재생산되고 있다. 이 논문은 문학텍스트가 문화콘텐츠로 재생산되는 매체 전환 현상에 주목하였다. 이를 위해 프랭크 바움의 동화 오즈의 마법사 와 이를 바탕으로 각색된 어린이뮤지컬 <오즈의 마법나라>의 공연텍스트를 비교 분석하였다. 그 결과, 뮤지컬 <오즈의 마법나라>에서는 장면의 통합 및 생략을 통한 서사의 압축적 전개, 마녀라는 현실에 존재하지 않는 인물의 등장과 마법의 구현을 통한 환상성의 배가, 성격 창조와 무대장치를 통한재미의 시각화, 뮤직넘버를 통한 주제의 명료화가 재현되고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이를 통해 원작동화가 어린이뮤지컬이라는 공연예술에 적합한 방식으로 재생산되면서 대중성을 확보하고 관객층을 폭넓게 확보할 수 있었다. 매체 전환 과정에서 새로운 에피소드나 인물이 추가됨으로써 서사 확장을 통한 주제의 변화를 꾀하지 않은 점은문학정전으로서 원작동화의 권위와 가치를 존중했기 때문이다. 문화향유 기회의 확대와 기술 진보 속에서 공연예술 콘텐츠의 질적 성장과 공연예술에 대한 관객의 인식 변화를 고려한다면, 원천텍스트에 대한 인식의 전환과 확장이 필요하다. 매체 전환에 따른 실제적인 문제점과 해결 방안에 대한 고찰이 폭넓게 진행될 때, 어린이뮤지컬에대한 이러한 인식이 확립되고 발전 가능성을 발견할 수 있으리라 본다.

영문 초록

Today, literary texts are being reproduced as various cultural contents through combination with new media, breaking away from the concept and form of traditional literature. This thesis focused on the phenomenon of media conversion in which literary texts are reproduced as cultural contents. For this purpose, we compared and analyzed the performance text of Frank Baum’s fairy tale “The Wizard of Oz” and the children’s musical “The Magical Land of Oz” adapted based on this. As a result, in the musical , the compressed unfolding of the narrative through the integration and omission of scenes, the appearance of a character who does not exist in reality, the witch, and the doubling of fantasy through the realization of magic, the creation of personality and the setting of the stage. It was confirmed that the visualization of fun through the music number and the clarification of the subject through the music number are being reproduced. Through this, the original fairy tale was reproduced in a way suitable for the performing arts of children’s musical, securing popularity and securing a wide audience. The fact that new episodes or characters were added in the process of media conversion did not change the theme through narrative expansion because it respected the authority and value of the original fairy tale as a literary canon. Considering the qualitative growth of performing arts contents and changes in the audience’s perception of performing arts amid the expansion of cultural enjoyment opportunities and technological progress, it is necessary to change and expand the perception of source texts. When the practical problems and solutions according to the media conversion are extensively considered, this perception of children’s musicals will be established and the potential for development will be discovered.
