다문화 초등학생의 학교생활적응에 대한 종단적 변화 및 영향요인 탐색

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 다문화 초등학생의 학교생활적응(수업태도, 학교 분위기, 교사관계, 교우관계, 성적 만족도)의 종단적 변화를 확인하고, 이에 영향을 미치는 변인을 탐색하기 위하여 수행되었다. 방법 이를 위해 다문화청소년패널연구(Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study: MAPS) 2기의 2019년(초4), 2020년(초5), 2021년(초6) 자료에 다층성장모형(multilevel growth modeling)을 적용하였다. 결과 첫째, 다문화 초등학생의 학교생활적응은 시간의 추이에 따라 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 학교생활적응의 초깃값과 변화율에 유의한 개인차가 존재하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 학교생활적응 초깃값에 영향을 미친 변인은 자아존중감, 국가정체성, 삶의 만족도, 이중문화 수용태도, 문화적응스트레스, 자신의 한국어 실력, 부모·친구·교사의 지지, 아버지의 학력이었고 변화율에 영향을 미친 변인은 교사의 지지로 나타났다. 결론 본 연구는 다층성장모형을 활용하여 초등학교 4학년에서 6학년으로 시간이 흐름에 따라 학교생활적응의 종단적 특성을 탐구함으로써 다문화 초등학생의 학교생활적응을 위한 교육적 시사점을 종합적으로 논의하였다는 점에서 연구의 차별성이 존재한다. 또한, 연구결과를 바탕으로 다문화 청소년과 관련하여 정책 수립 방향을 제시하고 후속 연구에 대해 제언하였다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study was to identify longitudinal changes in school adjustment (classroom attitudes, school climate, teacher relationships, peer relationships, and grade satisfaction) of multicultural elementary school students and to explore variables that influence these changes. Methods Multilevel growth modeling was applied to data from 2019(4th), 2020(5th), and 2021(6th) waves of the Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study (MAPS). Results First, the values of school adjustment of multicultural elementary school students decreased over time. Second, there were significant individual differences in the baseline values of school adjustment and the rate of change. Third, self-esteem, national identity, life satisfaction, bicultural acceptance attitude, acculturative stress, Korean language proficiency, parental, friend, and teacher support, and father's education were the variables that influenced the initial value of school adjustment, and teacher support was the variable that influenced the rate of change. Conclusions This study is unique in that it explored the longitudinal characteristics of school adjustment over time from fourth to sixth grade using a multilevel growth model to comprehensively discuss educational implications for multicultural elementary school students' school adjustment. In addition, based on the findings, this study provides policy implications for multicultural adolescents and makes suggestions for further research.
