국문 초록

목적 본 연구에서는 메이커 마인드셋을 활요안 탄소중립활동이 유아들의 생태적 감수성과 창의적 문제해결력에 미치는 영향을 알아보는데 목적이 있다. 방법 이를 위하여 I광역시 N어린이집과 M어린이집에 재원중인 만4-5세 혼합반 유아 30명(실험집단 15명, 비교집단 15명)을 대상으로 실험집단은 메이커마인드셋을 활용한 탄소중립활동을, 비교집단은 누리과정에 근거한 환경교육을 12주동안 실시하였으며 사전과 사후에 생태적 감수성과 창의적 문제해결력 검사를 실시하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSSWIN 28.0 통계 프로그램을 이용하여 독립표본 t 검증을 통해 분석하였다. 결과 메이커 마인드셋을 활용한 탄소중립활동을 한 실험집단의 유아들이 생태적 감수성 전체와 하위요인인 자연에 대한 관심, 자연에서의 심미적 체험, 정서안정, 자연에 대한 동정과 연민, 생태적 상상력 모든 요인에서 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 나타났으며, 창의적 문제해결력 전체와 하위요인인 문제의 이해 항목을 제외한 아이디어의 생성과 행위를 위한 계획에서 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 결론 메이커마인드셋을 활용한 탄소중립활동은 유아의 생태적 감수성과 창의적 문제해결력 발달에 긍정적인 효과가 있었다. 이러한 결과는 기후위기속 4차 산업혁명시대를 살아갈 유아들에게 메이커마인드셋을 활용한 탄소중립 교육과 활동은 일회성의 내용 위주인 환경교육에서 벗어나 유아들의 지속발전 가능한 실천과 참여를 이끌어 내며, 나아가 미래사회의 유아 환경교육 대한 방향성을 제시하는데 그 의의가 있다고 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purposes of this study is to investigate the impact of carbon neutrality activities utilizing a maker mindset on young children's ecological sensitivity and creative problem-solving skills. Methods For this study, 30 children aged 4-5 years (15 in the experimental group and 15 in the comparison group) from N and M kindergartens in I Metropolitan City were selected. The experimental group participated in carbon neutrality activities using a maker mindset, while the comparison group received environmental education based on the Nuri curriculum for 12 weeks. Pre- and post-tests were conducted to measure ecological sensitivity and creative problem-solving skills. The collected data were analyzed using the independent sample t-test with the SPSSWIN 28.0 statistical program. Results The children in the experimental group who participated in carbon neutrality activities using a maker mindset showed statistically significant differences in overall ecological sensitivity and its sub-factors, including interest in nature, aesthetic experiences in nature, emotional stability, sympathy and compassion for nature, and ecological imagination. In terms of creative problem-solving skills, significant differences were observed in the generation of ideas and planning for actions, except for the understanding of problems. Conclusions Carbon neutrality activities utilizing a maker mindset had a positive effect on the development of young children's ecological sensitivity and creative problem-solving skills. These results suggest that carbon neutrality education and activities using a maker mindset can lead to sustainable practices and participation among young children, moving beyond one-time content-focused environmental education. This approach provides meaningful direction for early childhood environmental education in the context of the climate crisis and the 4th Industrial Revolution.
