미래세대의 통일의식 함양을 위한 초등 국어교과서의 제재 선정 방향 탐색

국문 초록

목적 본 연구의 목적은 통일교육과 국어교육의 접점으로써 교과서 수록 제재에 주목하고, 초등 국어교과서 수록 제재를 중심으로 미래세대의 통일의식 함양을 위한 초등 국어교과서 개발 방향을 제안하는 것이다. 방법 연구 목적을 달성하기 위해 7차부터 2015 개정 초등 국어교과서에서 통일 및 북한 관련 제재의 수록 현황을 조사하였다. 그리고 내용 분석을 통해 초등 국어교과서에 수록된 제재의 경향성을 파악하고자 하였다. 결과 7차부터 2015 개정 초등 국어교과서에 수록 제재를 조사한 결과, 총 19건의 북한 및 통일 관련 제재를 확인하였다. 교과서 수록 제재를 살펴보면, 북한 어휘 관련 학습 자료가 제일 많았으며, 동화 작품이 일부 수록되었다. 동화 작품의 주제는 분단폭력으로 인한 민족적 수난과 고통이었으며, 이산 가족이나 피난민의 삶을 소재로 삼고 있었다. 초등 국어교과서에 수룩된 통일 및 북한 관련 제재 분석 결과, 통일 혹은 북한 소재 동화의 수록 편수가 너무 적고, 동화의 소재 자체가 학습자의 삶과 다소 괴리되어 있으며, 대부분의 재제가 문자 텍스트에 집중되어 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이런 문제점을 개선하기 위해 통일 및 북한 관련 제재의 교과서 수록 빈도 상향, 북한에 관해 부정적 시각을 내포한 제재 수록 지양, 미래세대의 체험적 특성을 고려한 제재 수록을 제안하였다. 결론 교과서에 수록된 통일 및 북한 관련 제재는 학습자에게 통일의식 함양를 효과적으로 지도할 수 있는 교육의 방편이다. 앞으로 초등 국어교과서 편찬 시에 통일 및 북한 관련 제제를 발굴하여 수록하기 위한 노력이 지속적으로 이루어지길 희망한다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to focus on sanctions in textbooks as the interface between unification education and curriculum education, and to propose a direction for the development of elementary Korean language textbooks to foster unification consciousness in future generations, centering on sanctions in elementary Korean language textbooks. Methods To fulfill the purpose of this study, we examined the current status of sanctions related to unification and North Korea in the 2015 revised elementary Korean textbooks from the seventh edition. Through content analysis, we sought to identify trends in the inclusion of sanctions in elementary Korean textbooks. Results The most common textbook sanctions included learning materials related to North Korean vocabulary, and some fairy tales. The theme of the fairy tales was ethnic hardship and suffering due to the violence of the division, and the stories were based on the lives of separated families and refugees. The analysis showed that the number of fairy tales with reunification or North Korea themes was too small, the fairy tales themselves were somewhat disconnected from learners' lives, and most of the sanctions in the textbooks were concentrated in the text. To improve these problems, we suggested increasing the frequency of reunification and North Korea-related sanctions in textbooks, avoiding sanctions that imply a negative view of North Korea, and including sanctions that take into account the experiential characteristics of children and adolescents. Conclusions This study focuses on sanctions in elementary Korean language textbooks as an interface between unification education and Korean language education. Unification and North Korea-related sanctions in textbooks are an effective way of teaching learners to develop unification awareness. We hope that efforts will continue to be made to identify and include unification and North Korea-related sanctions in elementary Korean textbooks.
