니트(NEET)청년 관련 연구동향 및 도전과제

국문 초록

목적 본 연구의 목적은 니트청년 관련 최근 연구동향을 분석하여, 후속 연구 및 니트청년 지원 관련 시사점을 제공하고자 한다. 방법 니트청년 관련 연구동향을 분석하기 위하여 2008년부터 2024년까지 17년간 이루어진 논문 중 니트청년과 관련한 국내 학술지논문 43편 및 학위논문 15편 총 58편을 분석대상 논문으로 선정하였다. 연구동향을 분석하는 기준은 기본정보, 연구대상, 연구방법, 연구주제의 4가지 영역으로 설정하였다. 결과 본 연구 결과, 연도별 동향은 학술지논문과 학위논문 모두 2015년 이후 그 수가 대폭 증가한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 연구대상별 동향은 비구직형니트 대상 연구가 약 63%로 가장 많은 비중을 차지하였고 혼합형 대상 연구와 구직형니트 대상 연구가 그 뒤를 이었다. 셋째, 연구방법별 동향은 학술지논문과 학위논문 모두 양적연구가 가장 많이 활용되었고, 분석방법은 통계자료를 이용한 전체적인 규모 추정이나 니트로의 결정 요인에 대한 계량적 분석 방법이 가장 많이 활용되었다. 마지막으로 연구주제 별로는 학술지논문과 학위논문 모두 니트 발생 원인 및 영향 요인이나 니트청년 유형과 특성에 관한 연구가 가장 많이 이루어져서 니트청년을 실제로 지원하기 위한 지원사업이나 니트예방 및 극복 방안에 관한 연구에 관한 관심이 요청되었다. 결론 마지막으로, 본 연구 결과를 바탕으로 니트청년 관련 후속 연구 및 지원을 위한 논의 및 시사점을 기술하고, 후속 연구를 위한 제언을 하였다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study aims to analyze recent research trends related to NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) youth and to provide implications for future research and support for NEET youth. Methods To analyze research trends related to NEET youth, a total of 58 papers, consisting of 43 domestic journal articles and 15 dissertations related to NEET youth published over 17 years from 2008 to 2024, were selected for analysis. The criteria for analyzing research trends were set in four areas: basic information, research subjects, research methods, and research topics. Results The study showed a significant increase in the number of journal articles and dissertations after 2015. Second, in terms of research subjects, studies focusing on non-job-seeking NEETs accounted for about 63%, followed by studies on mixed-type NEETs and job-seeking NEETs. Third, in terms of research methods, quantitative research was most commonly used in both journal articles and dissertations. The most frequently used analysis methods were overall scale estimation using statistical data and quantitative analysis of determinants leading to NEET status. Finally, regarding research topics, studies on the causes and influencing factors of NEET occurrence and the types and characteristics of NEET youth were the most common in both journal articles and dissertations. However, there is a greater need for research on support programs for NEET youth and measures for preventing and overcoming NEET status. Conclusions Based on the results of this study, discussions and implications for follow-up research and support for NEET youth were described, and recommendations for future research were made.
