국문 초록

이 연구에서는한국어 [+사람] 신어의 형태적, 의미적 특성과 담화 상에서 활용을 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 2009년부터 2019년까지의 국립국어원 신어 목록 중 [+사람] 신어의 생성 유형, 어종별 결합 형태, 연도별 추이에 따른 빈도를 분석하였다. 그 결과 파생어의 누적 빈도가 가장 높았지만 시간이 지남에 따라 상대적으로 합성어의 생성 비율이 증가했다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 어종별 결합 형태를 살펴보면 파생어의 경우 한자어와 한자어의 결합 비율이 높다는 것을 알 수 있었다. [+사람] 신어의 의미를 살펴본 결과 크게 새롭게 등장한 사회와 문화 현상, 새로운 직업이나 일, 사람의 외모, 능력, 행동적 특징을 나타냈는데 사람의 외모, 능력, 행동적 특징을 나타내는 신어의 누적 비율이 높았으나 연도별추이를 살펴본 결과에서는 새롭게 등장한 사회나 문화 현상과 관련 있는 신어의 빈도가 상대적으로 증가하였다. 마지막으로 발생 빈도가 높은 -족(族), -녀(女), -남(男), -꾼류의 파생어와 맘(mom), 맨(man), -돌(dol), -덕/ 덕후(御宅)류의 합성어를 중심으로 구어 말뭉치에서 한국어 신어가 어떻게 사용되고 있는지 살펴보았다. 그 결과이들 [+사람] 신어는 구어 말뭉치에서 사회 문화 현상이나 사람들의 직업, 외모, 이미지, 특징, 능력을 나타내는데사용되었다. 이 연구를 통해 한국어 [+사람] 신어 생성에 대한 이해 증진과 사회 문화 현상을 파악하는 데 도움이되기를 기대하며 한국어 학습자를 대상으로 한 [+사람] 신어 교육에도 활용될 수 있기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to explore the morphological and semantic features of Korean [+Human] neologisms and Korean speakers’ applications of these neologisms in discourse. The study analyzed the frequencies of [+Human] neologisms appearing on the National Institute of Korean Language’s neologisms lists from 2009 to 2019 according to types of neologism formations, forms of combination with other languages, and trends by years. The results found that derived words had the highest cumulative frequency but also revealed a relative increase in the proportion of compound words over time. In addition, with regard to the forms of combination with other languages, the proportion of Sino- Korean and Sino-Korean word combinations was highest in the derived word category. Semantically, [+Human] neologisms reflected new social and cultural phenomena, new jobs, and people’s appearance, abilities, and behavioral characteristics. Moreover, the results showed that the cumulative frequency of [+Human] neologisms referring to people’s appearance, abilities, and behavioral characteristics was the highest. However, yearly trends indicated a relative increase in the proportion of [+Human] neologisms reflecting new social and cultural phenomena. Furthermore, the use of [+Human] neologisms in the speech corpus was investigated with words that appeared with high frequencies. These included derived words with -cok ( ), -nye ( ), -nam ( ), and -kkwun and compound words with -mam (mom), -mayn (man), -tol (dol), and -tek/tekhwu ( ). The results revealed that [+Human] neologisms were used for describing social and cultural phenomena, peoples’ jobs, appearances, images, characteristics, and abilities in the speech corpus. The results of the study are expected to enhance the understanding of the formation of Korean [+Human] neologisms and social and cultural phenomena. In addition, it is anticipated that the study results will be used for teaching [+Human] neologisms to Korean language learners.
