고운 최치원의 관료생활 연구

국문 초록

기존의 최치원 연구는 생애, 문학, 사상의 측면에서 각별하게 다루어졌다. 첫째, 생애에 관한 논의는 그의 출생, 가계, 신분을 설정한 뒤 입당과 재당 활동, 귀국 후 관직 활동과 은둔 등의 행적을 중심으로 이루어졌다. 둘째, 문학에 관한 논의는 최치원 연구 가운데 가장 활발하게 진행되고 있는 분야인데, 그의 한시, 저술, 금석문, 서예등에 관한 연구들이 그것이다. 셋째, 사상에 관한 논의는 유 불 선 삼교(三敎) 융합을 전제로 최치원의 세계관에 대한 연구를 보여주었다. 그러한 연구 성과에도 불구하고 우리 학계에서는 정치 행정가로서 최치원의 행보에 대해서는 연구자의 관심에서 멀어져 있었다. 다시 말해서 최치원의 관료생활을 중심으로 한 논의는 활발하게 이루어지 못했다. 이에 연구자는 최치원의 벼슬살이 행보로서 당나라에서의 관료생활, 그리고 귀국 이후 신라에서의 관료생활을 따져보았다. 먼저, 당나라 시절 최치원은 율수현위를 거쳐 고변의 막사에서 종사관으로 활동하며 관역순관 도통순관 등의관직을 지냈다. 그렇게 당나라 생활 16년을 총결산하고 신라로 귀국할 때는 ‘회남입신라겸송국신등사 전동면도통순관 승무랑 전중시어사 내공봉 사 비어대’라는 직명으로 국신사 겸 송이사 자격이었다. 다음으로, 신라로 귀국한 뒤 최치원은 시독 겸 한림학사 수병부시랑 지서서감사를 거쳐 병수시랑을 맡았다. 이후 그는 외직을 자원하여 지방관, 곧 태수의 관직을 역임하게 되는데, 태산군 부성군 천령군 태수를 지냈다. 특히그는 말년에 ‘방로대감 천령군태수 아찬’의 직명으로 관료생활을 하였으며, 이와 더불어 하정사로 활동하기도 했다. 물론 최치원은 시인 문장가이자 사상가로서 널리 알려져 있다. 그런 만큼 그가 남긴 문학적 학문적 사상적업적을 간과할 수 없을 것이다. 하지만 그의 관료생활 논의 또한 당대의 정치제도적 상황은 물론이고 그의 사회적활동상을 이해할 수 있는 주요 요소로 작용한다. 그 결과 이 글에서는 최치원의 관료생활 연구를 통해 정치 행정가로서의 행보와 위상을 재조명할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

The existing Choi Chiwon study was dealt with in particular in terms of life, literature, and thought. Despite such research results, the researcher s interest in Choi Chiwon’s actions as a politician or administrator was far from the researcher s interest in our academic circle. In other words, the discussion focusing on the bureaucratic life of Choi Chiwon was not actively conducted. Therefore, the researcher examined the bureaucratic life in Tang Dynasty and the bureaucratic life in Silla after returning home as Choi Chiwon’s action. First, during Tang Dynasty, Choi Chiwon served as an employee in the barracks of Go Byun through Yulsu-hyeonwi and served as an office of the government officials such as the Kwanyuksunkwan, Dotong-sunkwan. When he returned to Silla after 16 years of Tang Dynasty, he was a Guksinsa and Songyisa under the title of Hyeonamipsillakyum Song-guksindeungsa Jeondongmyeon Dotong-sunkwan Seungmurang Jeonjungsisa Naegongbong sa Beerdae’. Next, Choi Chiwon took charge of the Byungbusirang after returning to Silla after a visit to the Sidok-bacheror and Halim-bacheror. Since then, he has volunteered for his external position and soon served as a governor of Taesan, Buseong, and Cheonryeong county. In particular, he lived as a bureaucrat in the last years under the title of ‘Bangro-daegam Cheonryeong-bacheror Achan’. Choi Chiwon is widely known as a poet, literary writer and thinker, and he cannot overlook his literary, academic, and ideological achievements. However, his discussion of bureaucratic life also serves as a major excuse to understand his social activities as well as the political and institutional situation of the time. As a result, this study was able to reexamine the position and position as a political and administrative person through the study of Choi Chiwon s bureaucratic life
