국문 초록

이 글은 <콩쥐팥쥐> 이야기에 나타난 재혼가족과 여성 재현의 변화를 분석한다. 지금까지의 연구에 의하면 <콩쥐팥쥐>는 조선시대에 민담의 형태로 구전되다가 1900년대 초반 소설화 된 것으로 보인다. 이후에도 여러 차례 소설로 각색되었으며 전래동화의 형식으로 현재까지도 꾸준히 읽히고 있다. 또한 1940년대 가극으로 만들어져 인기를 얻으며 공연되었고, 1950년대에는 영화로 만들어지기도 하였다. 이 글은 <콩쥐팥쥐> 이야기를 조선시대에 만들어진 ‘과거’의 산물이 아니라 소설, 가극, 영화 등의 형태로 이야기가 전해지면서 변이를 거치는 과정에서 당대의관점이 반영된 ‘현재’의 산물로 이해한다. 이러한 관점에서 1919년 소설, 1940년 가극, 1958년 영화, 1965년 소설<콩쥐팥쥐>에 대한 내용 분석을 시도하였다. 연구 결과 조선시대라는 ‘과거’를 배경으로 재혼가족 구성원에 관한통념과 순종적인 여성상이 재창조되면서 재혼가족과 여성에 관한 ‘현재’의 태도가 반영되었음이 드러났다. 이처럼당대 사회의 통념이 반영된 재혼가족과 여성의 재현이 ‘과거’와 ‘전통’을 명분으로 바람직한 여성상으로 제시되고있다.

영문 초록

This paper discusses the changes in the representation of remarried families and women in the story of “Kongjwi and Patjwi”. According to the previous studies, “Kongjwi and Patjwi” was handed down in the form of folk tales in the Joseon period, and it was made into a novel in the early 1900s. Since then, it has been made into novels several times and has continued to be read in the form of old stories. In the 1940s the story of “Kongjwi and Patjwi” was made into an opera; also it was made into a movie in the 1950s. This study regards the story of “Kongjwi and Patjwi” not as a product of the “past” being made in the Joseon period but as a product of the “present” reflecting the perspective of the times in the process of transformation. From this point of view, this paper tried to analyze the contents of the novel in 1919, the opera in 1940, the movie in 1958, and the novel in 1965. The results of the study show that the “current” attitude toward remarried families and women was recreated against the backdrop of the Joseon Dynasty. In this way, the remarried family and the appearance of women in the story, which reflect the conventional wisdom of modern society, are presented as desirable female images based on the “past” and the “tradition”.
