국문 초록

본 연구는 해외 시민교육 기관의 보고서 및 학술 자료를 바탕으로 젠더 갈등 해소를 위한 시민성 교육의 실천적 방향과 사례를 탐색한다. 이는 한국사회에서 극단적 대립을 치닫고 있는 청년세대의 젠더 갈등을 해소하기 위한 유의미한 기준과 조건을 제시하는 동시에 시민교육 방법론의 혁신 측면에서 그 의미가 있다. 이와 관련해 해외시민교육 자료 검토 및 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 성평등은 남성에도 중요하다는 점을 인식해야 한다. 이를위해 시민교육은 성평등이 남성에게 주는 이익이 무엇인지를 고민하도록 유도할 수 있으며 이를 통해 성평등이 여성만이 아닌 우리 모두를 위함을 깨닫게 할 수 있다. 둘째, ‘따로’ 또 ‘같이’ 전략을 통해 젠더 관계에 대해 민감하게 인식할 수 있도록 한다. 전략적으로 동성 그룹끼리의 편하고 솔직한 대화를 이끌어내고 이를 성별 상호 간교환 및 공유하는 방식으로 교육이 진행될 수 있다. 마지막으로, 실수-친화적 안전 공간 만들어야 한다. 실수-친화성이란 그 누구도 완벽하지 않기에 실수가 용인할 수 있는 조건과 구조를 의미한다. 다만 그 실수를 반복하지 않기 위한 적절한 방식과 방법을 성찰하도록 유도해야 한다. 이를 위해 시민교육은 어떠한 주장과 의견이라도 자연스럽고 편안하게 공유될 수 있도록 교육 환경과 조건을 마련하는 것이 중요하다.

영문 초록

The study explores the practical directions and examples of civic education to resolve gender conflicts based on reports and academic data from overseas civic education institutions. This is meaningful in that it presents meaningful standards and conditions for resolving gender conflicts facing extreme confrontation in Korean society and presents innovation in civic education methodology. In this regard, the results of the review and analysis of overseas civic education data are as follows. First, it should be recognized that gender equality is also important for men. Civic education can induce us to think about what the benefits of gender equality to men are, and through this, we can realize that gender equality is for all of us, not just women. Second, it makes it possible to sensitively recognize gender relations through ‘separate’ and ‘together’ strategies. This can be conducted in a way that elicits comfortable and honest conversations between samesex groups and exchanges and shares them with each other by gender. Finally, it is necessary to create a error-friendliness safety space. It is important to establish an educational environment and conditions for civic education so that any arguments and opinions can be shared naturally and comfortably.
