코로나19 상황의 외국인 유학생 상담센터 운영 현황과 방향

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 S대학교 외국인 유학생 상담센터의 운영 현황을 분석하여 코로나19 상황에서 유학생들의 대학 적응과 문화 적응을 돕기 위한 상담센터의 운영 방향을 모색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 방법 이를 위하여 먼저 S대학교 외국인 유학생 상담센터의 2020학년도 운영 현황을 살펴본다. 선행 연구를 조사하여 분석하고, 1학기와 2학기에 실시한 비대면 상담 방식과 온라인 비교과 프로그램의 운영 방향 및 대응책에 대해 논의한다. 또한, 두 학기 실행한 상담 프로그램과 실행 사례를 분석하여 코로나19 상황에서의 운영 현황을 종합적으로 정리한다. 다음으로, 유학생 150명을 대상으로 한 상담 사례를 분석하여 유형별로 살펴본다. 이를 바탕으로 유학생들의 학업 상황과 유학 생활의 실태를 파악하여 유학생 관리 체계 등 운영 개선 방안을 제안한다. 결과 S대학교 외국인 유학생 상담센터는 2020학년도 팬데믹이라는 상황에 비대면 상담 프로그램으로 전면 전환하면서 개인상담, 또래상담과 온라인 k-pop 경연대회를 추진하여 센터와의 커뮤니티를 조성하였고 유학생들의 스트레스와 고립감을 최소화하는 온라인 활동을 진행하였다. 개별 상담 사례를 분석한 결과 외국인 유학생들은 코로나19 상황에서 비대면 수업 방식, 학습관리시스템(LMS) 활용, 한국어 공부, 교우관계, 건강 및 생활 등의 어려움이 있는 것으로 나타났고 이에 개선과 대응책이 필요한 상황이다. 결론 본 연구는 외국인 유학생 상담센터의 운영 현황과 상담프로그램을 분석함으로써 향후 상담센터의 역할을 정립하고 방향성을 제시할 수 있다. 아울러, 외국인 유학생 상담센터의 효과적인 운영 방안에 대한 기초 자료로 활용할 수 있다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to analyze the operation status of S University s international student counseling center to find the operation direction of the counseling center to help international students adapt to universities and cultures in the COVID-19 situations. Methods This study examines the operation status of the international student counseling center in 2020, and discusses the non-face-to-face counseling method conducted in the first and second semesters through the investigation and analysis of previous studies. In addition, it analyzes counseling programs and implementation cases conducted for two semesters to comprehensively summarize the operation status of the center in the COVID-19 situations. Next is analyzes counseling cases for 150 international students and examines them by type. Based on this, this study identifies the academic situation of international students and their study life and proposes measures to improve operation, such as an international student management system. Results S University s Foreign Student Counseling Center has completely shifted to a non-face-to-face counseling program in the situation of the 2020 Pandemic. The center promoted online activities such as personal counseling, peer counseling, and online k-pop contests, which created a community with the center and minimized the stress and isolation of international students. As a result of analyzing individual counseling cases, foreign students had difficulties in using non-face-to-face teaching methods, learning management systems(LMS), studying Korean, companionships, health, and life in the COVID-19 situation, and improvement and countermeasures are needed. Conclusions This study can establish the role of the counseling center and present its direction in the future by analyzing the operation status and counseling program of the counseling center for foreign students. In addition, it can be used as basic data for effective operation plans of the foreign student counseling center.
