온라인 PBL 수업에서 학습자 만족도와 학습효과를 예측하는 요인분석

목적 본 연구에서는 온라인 PBL수업에서 온라인 PBL 설계의 변인과 학습동기변인 및 학습성과간의 관계를 조사하고, 학습자 만족도와 학습효과를 예측하는 변인들을 조사하고자 하였다. 방법 이를 위해 온라인 PBL수업에 참여한 39명의 대학생을 상대로 학기말 설문지 조사를 실시하였다. 설문지 문항은 세가지 범주 즉 온라인 PBL 설계의 인지적 영역, 학습동기의 정의적 영역, 학습자 만족도 및 학습효과로 구성되었다. 모든 변인들은 웹기반 설문지에서 고안되고 학습자 만족도와 학습효과와 관련해서 측정되었다. 변인들간 관계를 조사하기 위해 피어슨 상관분석과 단계선택 다중회귀분석이 실시되었다. 결과 상관분석에 의하면, 전반적으로 학습자 만족도 및 학습효과에 대한 온라인 PBL 설계의 변인과 동기변인은 유의미한 상관관계를 보였다. 다중회귀분석에 의하면 만족감과 비판적 사고력이 학습자 만족도와 학습효과에 주요한 영향을 미치는 요소로 드러났다. 학습자 만족도에 대한 기여도는 두 변인 중 만족감이 가장 크고 비판적 사고력이 그 뒤를 따르고, 학습효과와 관련한 기여도 또한 동일한 순서로 나타났다. 결론 본 연구결과는 학습자의 비판적 사고력과 내재적⋅외재적 동기를 이끌어 내는 교수전략이 온라인 PBL수업의 학습 효율성를 고양시키는데 큰 도움이 됨을 시사한다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to examine the relationships among the variables of an e-PBL design, learning motivation, and learning outcomes, as well as predictors of learner satisfaction and learning outcomes in an e-PBL class. Methods Thirty-nine university students who participated in the e-PBL class were asked to complete a survey of their perceptions immediately upon completing the course. The questions in the survey focused on three categories: (1) cognitive aspect of the e-PBL design; (2) affective aspect of learning motivation; and (3) learner satisfaction and learning outcomes. All variables were derived by web-based questionnaires and tested concerning learner satisfaction and perceived achievement. Pearson correlation and step-wise multiple regression analyses were conducted to examine the relationships among the variables. Results Overall the correlation analyses showed statistically significant relationships between the variables of the e-PBL design and the variables of motivation on learner satisfaction and perceptual learning outcomes. Out of the six variables, sense of satisfaction and critical-thinking abilities emerged as significant factors that affect learner satisfaction and perceived achievement. Sense of satisfaction was found to have the strongest predictive power for learner satisfaction as well as perceived achievement, followed by critical-thinking abilities. Conclusions The results imply that instructional strategies that elicit critical-thinking skills and intrinsic/extrinsic motivations of learners would be of great help in enhancing learning effectiveness in e-PBL classes.
