ARCS 학습 동기 모델을 적용한 프로젝트 기반 음악 수업 방안

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 Keller의 ARCS 학습 동기 모델을 적용한 프로젝트 기반 학습(Project-Based Learning)을 바탕으로 음악 수업 방안을 제안하는 데 목적이 있다. 방법 이를 위해 학습자의 능동적인 참여와 몰입을 위한 동기부여 활동이 연결된 수업 방안을 제안하고자 문헌 연구를 통해 프로젝트 기반 학습과 ARCS 학습 동기 모델 등을 중심으로 고찰하였고, 교양 음악 수업에 반영 가능한 음악 활동을 탐색하였다. 결과 학습자의 참여성과 동기부여 증진 방안으로 프로젝트 기반 학습을 Larmer, Mergendoller와 Boss의 4가지 주요 단계(프로젝트 시작, 아이디어 구상과 탐구, 개발, 평가 및 수정, 발표 및 방어)에 ARCS의 주의집중(지각적 각성, 탐구적 각성, 다양성), 관련성(목표 지향성, 목적과 맞춤, 친숙함), 자신감(학습 요건, 성공의 기회, 개인적 조절), 만족감(자연적인 결과, 긍정적인 결과, 공평성)의 전략을 연결하여 슈베르트의 피아노 5중주 실내악곡 적용 예시를 통해 제시하였다. 결론 ARCS 학습 동기 모델을 적용한 프로젝트 기반 음악 수업 방안은 수업의 전 과정이 관찰되는 과정 중심 평가로 학습 진행 중에 학습자가 자연스럽게 성장할 기회가 마련되어 학습 동기가 부족한 학습자에게 또 하나의 보완적인 방안으로서 도움이 될 수 있으며 학습자의 지속적인 관심과 참여성을 증진하는 음악 수업 방안의 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to propose a method of applying the Keller’s ARCS learning motivation model on a project-based learning format for music class. Methods To this end, project-based learning and learning motivation models were studies through literature research, and music activities that can be part of a liberal arts music class were looked at for adaptability into such models in order to propose a teaching method that improves motivation through learners' active participation and engagement. Results To improve learner participation and motivation, Larmer, Mergendoller, and Boss's four main stages of project-based learning (project initiation, ideation and exploration, development, evaluation and revision, and presentation and defense of work) were cross linked with Keller’s ARCS learning motivation model’s main and sub-categories of Attention (perceptual arousal, inquiry arousal, variability), Relevance (goal orientation, motive matching, familiarity), Confidence (learning requirements, success opportunities, personal control), and Satisfaction (natural consequences, positive consequences, equity) and an example of this application to Schubert's piano quintet chamber music was presented. Conclusions This connective application method can be helpful as another supplementary method for learners who lack motivation to learn, and can be used as basic material for music teaching methods that promote learners' continued interest and participation.
