‘사회적 공감’ 교육 모형을 활용한 대학 글쓰기 수업 방안 연구

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 사회적 공감 교육 모형을 활용하여 대학 글쓰기 수업에 적용하여 학생들의 공감 능력을 향상시키는 것을 목적으로 비평문 쓰기 지도 방안과 수업 사례를 제시한다. 방법 이를 위하여 대전 소재 대학생 163명을 대상으로 2022년 2학기와 2023년 1학기에 대면으로 진행한 교양 필수 과목 기초글쓰기 수업 중 3주차에 걸친 내용을 소개하였다. 엘리자베스 시걸이 주장한 ‘사회적 공감’ 이론을 방법으로 차용하였으며 이를 적용한 ‘사회적 공감’ 교육 모형, 비평문 쓰기 지도 방안을 설명하고 학생들의 글을 살펴봄으로써 사회문제를 사회맥락적 차원에서 인식하고 해결방안을 모색하는 차원으로 심화하는지 살펴본다. 결과 학생들은 사회적 공감의 필요성과 가치를 인지하고 분석 대상에 개인적 공감과 사회적 공감을 발휘하였다. 이를 현실에 적용하여 해결방안을 모색하였다. 사회적 공감 교육과 비평문이 갖는 비판적 문해력이 활발하게 일어났고 이를 통해 성숙한 세계시민으로 성장하였다. 결론 사회적 공감 교육과 비평문 쓰기 수업은 현재 우리나라에서 팽배한 무관심과 차별, 혐오 문제를 해결할 수 있는 대안 중 하나로 작동하였으며, 훈련된 비판적 사유와 성찰 능력이 공감 능력을 신장할 수 있는 것임을 확인하였다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study was applied to college writing classes using the social empathy education model. The purpose is to improve students' empathy ability. Accordingly, a teaching method for writing criticism and a class case are presented. Methods For 163 college students, three of the liberal arts classes conducted in the second semester of 2022 and the first semester of 2023 were presented. The theory of ‘social empathy’ argued by Elizabeth Segal was used as a research method. And the ‘social empathy’ educational model and teaching method for writing criticism were explained. We looked at the students' writings and looked at whether they recognized social problems in a social context dimension and sought solutions. Results To this end, writing criticism was conducted based on group activities. Students recognized the necessity and value of social empathy. And they showed personal empathy and social empathy ability to the subject of analysis. A solution was created by applying this to reality. Critical literacy improved and grew into a mature global citizen. Conclusions It proved that ‘social empathy’ education and critical writing classes are one of the alternatives that can solve indifference, discrimination, and disgust. In addition, it was confirmed that training critical thinking and reflection skills can develop empathy.
