국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 중국인 유학생의 한국 대학 생활⋅경험에 대한 특징을 밝힘으로써 한국 대학기관의 외국인 유학생 운영 방안과 정부의 우수 유학생 유치 방향에 대한 시사점을 제시하고자 하였다. 방법 이를 위하여 중국인 유학생 5명을 대상으로 질적 사례연구를 수행하였다. 참여관찰과 심층면담 및 문헌검토를 통해 자료를 수집했으며 수집한 자료를 코딩하고 범주화하는 과정을 통해 중국인 유학생의 생활 경험의 특징을 분석하였다. 마지막으로 연구의 타당성을 확보하기 위하여 연구결과를 참여자와 제3자에게 검토 및 확인받았다. 결과 연구 결과 재한 중국인 유학생은 입학면에서는 학벌 획득과 성공을 위해 유학을 결심하고 입학이 가능한 범위에서 명성 높은 학교를 선택하는 것으로 나타났으며, 수업면에서는 한국어 이해와 표현이 어려운 만큼 수업에 적응하지 못하고 수동적인 수업 목적 위주의 관계를 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 생활면에서는 학교 활동에 참여하는 것보다 개인 위주의 생활을 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 결론 중국인 유학생들의 한국 대학 생활 적응을 돕기 위해 입학 전 대학 및 전공 상담 센터 마련이 필요하며, 언어 능력으로 인한 어려움을 돕기 위해 각 전공에 특화된 한국어 수업이 필요하다. 또한 한국 학생들과의 교류를 활성화할 수 있는 환경과 조건을 마련하고 유학 생활에 대한 정확하고 상세한 안내가 필요하다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study attempted to present implications for the management of foreign students in Korean university institutions and the government's direction of attracting excellent international students by revealing the characteristics of Chinese international students' life and experiences in Korean universities. Methods To this end, a qualitative case study was conducted on 5 Chinese international students. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and literature review, and the characteristics of the life experiences of Chinese international students were analyzed through the process of coding and categorizing the collected data. Finally, in order to secure the validity of the study, the research results were reviewed and confirmed by participants and third parties. Results As a result of the study, it was found that Chinese international students in Korea decided to study abroad to acquire and succeed in obtaining academic background in terms of admission and chose a prestigious school within the range of admission. As it is difficult to understand and express Korean in terms of instruction, they cannot adapt to the class and prefer a passive purpose-oriented relationship. In addition, it was found that in terms of life, they prefer individual-oriented life rather than participating in school activities. Conclusions It is necessary to prepare a counseling center for universities and majors before admission to help Chinese international students adapt to Korean university life, and Korean language classes specialized in each major are needed to help with difficulties caused by language skills. It is also necessary to prepare an environment and conditions to activate exchanges with Korean students and to provide accurate and detailed guidance on their foreign students life.
