대학생 성과 평가에 있어 생성형 AI 과제 활용 수용 의사에 관한 연구

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 대학 학생들의 과제물 작성에 있어 생성형 AI 활용 수용에 대한 학생 태도와 행동을 계획된 행동 이론의 얼개를 활용해 고찰하였다. 방법 총 193명의 국내 4년제 대학 학생이 질적 및 양적 분석을 위한 연구 설문에 참여하였다. 주제 분석(thematic analysis)을 활용해 질적 분석을 수행하였으며, 양적 분석으로는 Mplus 패키지를 이용한 경로 분석을 통해 조절된 매개 모형을 테스트 하였다. 결과 양적 분석 결과, 생성형 AI에 대한 불공정성 지각과 생성형 AI 과제에 대한 적발 가능성 지각이 높은 학생일수록 생성형 AI 수용 의사가 낮은 것으로 드러났다. 또한 불공정성 지각과 생성형 AI 수용 의사 사이의 관계는 적발 가능성 지각에 의해 조절되었다. 즉 적발 가능성이 높을 경우 불공정성 지각과 AI 수용 의사 사이에 보다 강한 음의 관계가 있었다. 생성형 AI 수용 의사는 AI로 과제물을 작성하는 학생들의 실제 행동을 야기하는 것으로 나타났다. 질적 분석 결과, 학생들은 생성형 AI에 대해 전반적으로 긍정적 수용 의사를 보이고 있었으며 그럼에도 해당 기술의 부작용 문제와 일정 부분 규제 필요성도 인지하고 있었다. 아울러 현재의 생성형 AI 기술이 신뢰성 및 실용성에서 아직 미흡한 점이 있음도 지적되었다. 결론 본 연구는 생성형 AI에 대한 대학생들의 심리적 동기 구조를 선도적으로 탐구하였다. 이에 향후 대학 내 AI 교수⋅학습 활용 방안에 대한 교육적 함의를 논했다.

영문 초록

Objectives Drawn from the theory of planned behavior (TPB), this study aims to examine the students’ attitudes and behaviors regarding the acceptance and use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in college assignments. Methods A survey with 193 students from a South Korean university was conducted with both qualitative and quantitative methods. In terms of the qualitative method, a thematic analysis was conducted. For quantitative method, a moderated mediation model with path analysis was tested using Mplus software. Results The quantitative analysis revealed that students perceiving high unfairness in generative AI and those anticipating a high possibility of detection in generative AI assignments were more inclined to express lower acceptance of generative AI. Furthermore, the relationship between perceived unfairness and AI acceptance was moderated by the perception of detection possibility. A heightened possibility of detection strengthened the negative association between perceived unfairness and AI acceptance. The study also found that the acceptance of generative AI significantly increase the actual behavior of employing this technology for assignments. The qualitative analysis of open-ended questions demonstrated that students generally exhibited positive receiving attitudes to generative AI, but they also recognized potential side effects and acknowledged the need for academic regulations. Additionally, students noted shortcomings in the credibility and practicality of current generative AI technology. Conclusions This research is one of the first attempts that tackled students' motivation towards AI and provides the educational implications for use of AI in pedagogical purposes.
