상담학을 전공한 만학도의 박사과정 경험에 관한 현상학적 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 최근 평생교육 정책의 확대와 더불어 새로운 학습자로 주목받는 만학도의 대학 진학 증가에따라 그들의 독특한 삶의 체험과 학습경험을 탐색하고 이해하기 위하여 수행되었다. 40대 이후 상담전공 박사과정을 시작하여 수료하였거나 박사학위를 취득한 만학도 6명을 선택하여 심층 면담을 하였다. 모든 면담은 개별적으로 이루어졌으며 Giorgi의 현상학적 방법 절차에 따라 분석하였다. 질적 분석결과, ‘끊임없는 배움의 여행’, ‘결코, 포기할 수 없었던 공부’, ‘고단한 만학의 여정’, ‘감사한 인연들과의 특별한 동행’, ‘만학의 여행이 주는 행운의 선물’이라는 5가지 본질적 주제와 13개의 중심 주제가 도출되었다. 본 연구는 만학도 6인의 삶의 경험과 학습체험을 심층적으로 고찰함으로써 만학도의 효과적지원을 위한 기초자료를 마련하는 데 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This study was conducted to explore and understand their unique life experiences and learning experiences in response to the recent expansion of lifelong education policies and the increasing number of adult learners who are attracting attention as new learners go to college. Six adult learners who started a doctoral program in counseling after their 40s and completed or earned a doctorate were selected for in-depth interviews. All interviews were conducted individually and analyzed according to Giorgi's phenomenological method procedure. As a result of the qualitative analysis, five essential themes and 13 central themes were derived: “Continuous Learning Journey,” “Study I Never, Never Give Up,” “Arduous Learning Journey,” “Special Companionship with Grateful Connections,” and “The Lucky Gift of Adult Learning Journey.” This study is significant in preparing basic data for effective support of students by examining the life and learning experiences of six adult learners in depth.
