국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 코로나19 시대를 경험하는 초등학생이 느끼는 감정을 탐색하는 데 목적이 있다. 방법 이를 위해 연구자들은 거의 2년 동안 코로나19 상황 속에서 초등학교에 다닌 6학년 3개 학급 학생들을 대상으로 포토보이스 연구 방법을 적용하여 그들의 감정에 관해 탐색하였다. 연구는 Latz(2017)가 언급한 확인, 초대, 교육, 기록, 이야기하기, 관념화, 발표, 확증의 연구 절차에 따라 진행되었다. 수집된 자료의 분석은 코딩, 유목화, 주제 발견의 3단계에 따라 이루어졌다. 결과 코로나19를 경험하는 초등학생의 감정은 공포, 우울, 분노, 슬픔으로 나타났다. 각 감정이 가진 의미를 구체적으로 살펴보면, 공포는 ‘보이지 않는 실체에 대한 두려움’, 우울은 ‘마스크 속의 답답한 일상’, 분노는 ‘거부할 수 없는 일상의 장기화’, 슬픔은 ‘관계 단절이 만든 고립’이라는 주제를 도출하였다. 결론 본 연구는 코로나19 시대를 살아가고 있는 초등학생의 감정을 알아보는 진단적 기능뿐만 아니라, 발생한 문제에 대한 대안을 찾고 정책적 연결까지 고민하는 확장성을 제공할 것으로 기대된다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to explore the emotions of elementary school students experiencing the COVID-19 era. Methods For this purpose, the researchers applied the Photovoice method to three classes of 6th graders who attended elementary school for nearly two years during the era of COVID-19. and explored their emotions. This study was conducted according to the research procedure of identification, invitation, education, documentation, narration, ideation, presentation, and confirmation as noted by Latz(2017). The analysis of the collected data was carried out according to these three steps: coding, classification, and topic discovery. Results The predominant emotions of elementary school students experiencing COVID-19 were found to be fear, depression, anger, and sadness. If we look at the meaning of each emotion specifically, the following four themes were derived through data analysis; fear of invisible entities(fear), stuffy daily life in a mask(depression), prolongation of daily life that cannot be denied(anger), and isolation created by severed or strained relationships (sadness). Conclusions This study is expected to provide not only a diagnostic function of recognizing the emotions of elementary school students living in Korea during the era of COVID-19, but also the scalability of finding alternatives to problems and contemplating policy connections.
