정약용의 인성론과 도덕과 교육 시사점

국문 초록

본 연구는 정약용의 인성론이 도덕과 교육에 줄 수 있는 시사점을 탐구하고자 하였다. 다산 인성론 이해의 밑그림으로서 여말선초의 주자학 수용 상황, 사단칠정론, 인물성동이론은 각각 인간의 도덕적 본성에 대한 확고한 정초, 성과 심리 현상과의 관계에 대한 논의, 인간의 본성과 실천의 문제로 심화되었다. 다산은 자신의 인성론 확립과정에서 본연지성이 가지는 영원성이 인간에게 적용 가능한 것인가에 대한 문제를 비롯해 인성과 물성의 동이에 대한 문제, 생명 탄생의 첫 지점에 선을 배속하는 기존의 성선설에도 문제를 제기한다. 그 결과 그는 성을 기 호로 읽음으로써 성이 명사가 아니라 동사임을 제시한다. 동시에 욕구가 갖는 도덕적 추동력으로서의 의미를 부각시켰다. 뿐만 아니라 상제는 종교적 감시자가 아니라 도덕적 감시자로서 등장한다. 이상의 인성론적 특징을 바탕으로 도덕과 교육에 관해 몇 가지 제언하였다. 현재의 생활과 윤리, 윤리와 사상, 고전과 윤리에서 다산의 성기호설이 성선설과 모순되는 인성론이 아님을 반영해야 할 것이고, 성기호설의 설명에도 좀 더 세심한 배려가 필요하다고 보았다. 또 상제에 대한 설명에 있어서도 도덕적 감시자의 이미지가 더 부각될 수 있도록 하여야 한다는 점도 언급하였다. 이 몇 가지 제언은 차후 개정될 교육과정이나 교수학습 장면에서 유의해야 할 부분으로 언급하였다. 동시에 다산의 인성론에서 읽어낼 수 있는 의도된 칭찬의 유의미함을 제기하였다.

영문 초록

This study aims to inquire the implications of Jeong Yak-yong s theory of human nature on moral education. As a sketch for understanding Dasan s theory of human nature, the situation of acceptance of Jujahak(朱子學, the Learning of Master Zhu), Sadan chiljeongnon (四端七情論, also known as the Four-Seven Debate) and Inmulseong dongi debate(人物性同異論, debate on similarities and differences of the nature of humans and things) show meaningful progress. These debates, in turn, began with a firm metaphysical foundation of human nature, and discussed the relationship between human nature and psychological phenomenon, and deepen into the relationship between human nature and moral behavior. The previous debates on human nature have been systematically incorporated into Dasan s theory of human nature. He had raised the question of whether eternity of bonyeon ji seong(本然之性) is applicable to human beings, as well as the question of similarities and differences of the nature of humans and things, and the existing thoery of human nature that assigns goodness to the first point of life. As a result, he suggested that Seong(性) is a verb, not a noun, by defining it as a Giho(嗜好, inclining). At the same time, He took a step further and emerged the meaning as the moral driving force of desire in the conflict of human nature and desire. In addition, he highlighted that Sangje(上帝) is not a religious watcher but a moral watcher who monitors morality in our daily lives. Based on the above Dasan s theory of human nature, some suggestions were made for moral education. First of all, in the textbooks such as Life and Ethics, Ethics and thoughts, and Classics and Ethics, this study tries to make importance that Dasan’s Seonggihoseol(性嗜好說) is not a contradiction with Seongseonseol(性善說). The explanation of Seonggihoseol need to very careful approach. And this study shows that the image of the moral watcher should be made more prominent in the description of Sangje. Finally, this study raises the significance of the intended compliment, which can be read in the proof of Seongseon(性善, Inclination to goodness)
