TIMSS 2019의 4학년 과학 평가틀과 우리나라 과학 교육과정과의 관련성 비교

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 대표적인 국제비교인 TIMSS 2019의 4학년 과학 평가틀과 우리나라 2009 및 2015 개정 과학과 교육과정 사이의 연계성을 분석하였다. TIMSS 2019의 4학년 과학 평가틀의 평가목표가 우리나라 과학과 교육과정에 포함되어 있지 않은 항목이 가장 많았던 영역은 생명과학 영역이었다. TIMSS 2019의 4학년 과학 평가목표 중에서 ‘척추동물과 무척추동물의 구분’, ‘살아남는 자손의 수를 늘리기 위한 다양한 전략’, ‘환경 상태에 대한 동물의 반응’, ‘부모로부터 물려받은 특징과 그렇지 않은 특징의 구별’은 우리나라 초등학교 과학과 교육과정에서 다루지 않고 있었으며, 중학교 교육과정에서도 전혀 다루고 있지 않는 내용들도 있었다. 물상 영역의 경우 TIMSS 2019 평가틀의 4학년 평가 목표 중에서 ‘힘과 운동’을 제외하고 우리나라 초등학교 및 중학교 교육과정에서 전혀 다루지 않는 것은 없었다. 지구과학 영역의 경우는 ‘날씨가 지리적 위치에 따라 달라짐’을 제외하고 우리나라 초등학교 및 중학교 교육과정에서 전혀 다루지 않는 것은 없었다. 물상과학 영역의 ‘힘과 운동’, 지구과학영역의 ‘날씨가 지리적 위치에 따라 달라짐’에 대한 내용은 초등학교에서는 다루지않고 중학교에서부터 다루고 있었다. 또한, 2015 개정 교육과정에서 통합 단원의 신설, 새로운 성취기준이 추가됨으로 인하여 이전 교육과정에서는 다루지 않았던 TIMSS 4학년 과학 평가틀의 일부 평가 목표가 우리나라 교육과정에도 포함되는 변화를 찾아볼 수 있었다.

영문 초록

This study investigated the relationship between TIMSS 2019 science frameworks for 4th grade and Korea 2009 and 2015 revision science curriculum. It was biological science area that inconsistency between TIMSS 2019 science frameworks and Korea science curriculum was the most. The topics were not included in Korea science curriculum not only elementary level but also middle school level were ‘distinguish groups of animals with backbones from groups of animals without backbones’, ‘identify and describe different strategies that increase the number of offspring that survive’, how different animals respond to changes in environmental conditions’. In the case of the physical science, none of the 4th grade objectives of the TIMSS 2019 assessment framework is addressed in the Korean elementary and middle school curriculum except or force and exercise . In the case of the earth science, there is nothing that is not covered in the Korean elementary and middle school curriculum except for weather depends on geographical location . The subjects of strength and movement in the physical science field and weather depends on geographic location in the earth science field were not covered in elementary school but from middle school level. It was found that the consistency between TIMSS science objectives and 2015 revision science curriculum was increased as integrated chapters and some new objectives, which were not included in 2009 revision science curriculum, were added in recent science curriculum.
