국문 초록

본 연구는 현대 드랙 문화 확장에 주목하며, 유튜브 내 드랙 분장 콘텐츠 사례를 통해 드랙 페르소나와 분장의 상관성을 논의하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 드랙 문화, 페르소나와 분장에 관한 이론적고찰을 선행하였고, 각 사례에 나타난 1) 드랙 분장의 특징과 이를 통한 2) 드랙 페르소나 표현을 위한분장의 특성, 3) 드랙 페르소나와 분장의 상관성을 규명하였다. 드랙은 젠더 다양성의 상징이며 자유로운 자아 표현의 대표적인 문화이다. 따라서 사회에서 요구하는 역할이나 상황에 따라 나타나는 인격이라고 해석되는 페르소나의 의미는 본고에서 주장하는 드랙 페르소나의 의미와 충돌한다. 드랙 페르소나는 사회적 요구에 반하는 자유로운 정체성을 표현하는 예술이며, 이를 위한 분장의 장식과 위장 속성은설정된 상황을 시각화하는 중요한 역할을 한다. 사례 속 아티스트들은 각자 원하는 바의 페르소나를 표현하는데, 이는 그들 자신의 고유한 자아이다. 따라서 드랙 문화 안의 페르소나와 분장은 상호 불가분의 관계에 있으며, 드랙 아티스트의 또 다른 자아의 표상으로 해석할 수 있다.

영문 초록

This study focuses on the expansion of modern drag culture and aims to discuss the correlation between drag persona and makeup through examples of drag makeup content on YouTube. To this end, theoretical considerations on drag culture, persona and makeup were preceded, and in each case, 1) the characteristics of drag makeup and through it 2) the characteristics of makeup for expressing the drag persona, 3) the correlation between the drag persona and makeup did Drag is a symbol of gender diversity and a representative culture of free self-expression. Therefore, the meaning of persona, which is interpreted as a character that emerges according to the role or situation required by society, conflicts with the meaning of drag persona claimed in this paper. Drag persona is an art that expresses a free identity against social demands, and the decoration and camouflage properties of makeup for this purpose play an important role in visualizing the set situation. The artists in the example express the persona they want, which is their own unique self. Therefore, persona and makeup in drag culture are inseparable from each other, and can be interpreted as a representation of another ego of drag artists.
