애정소설에서의 여성형상과 남성작가의 인식

국문 초록

고전소설에서 남녀 간의 애정 문제를 사건으로 전개되는 작품이 차지하는 비중은 매우 크다. 남녀 간의 애정을사건에 중심에 놓고 서술된 소설군을 애정소설의 범주로 설정되어 연구되었다. 연구의 한 축은 여성주인공의 모습을 소극성과 적극성으로 분석하기도 하며 사회 참여의 정도에 따라 당대 여성의 모습을 유추하려는 연구가 많이이루어졌다. 본 연구는 대부분의 고전소설이 남성작가에 의해 서술되었다는 점에 주목하였다. 고전소설이 사회 모습의 반영이며, 작품에 반영된 여성주인공의 모습이 작가에 의해 포착된 당대 여성의 일반적인 모습이거나 그 일부일 수 있다. 그러나 그러한 여성주인공의 모습을 서술하는 것은 남성작가라는 한계가 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는남성작가로 분명하게 확인된 <이생규장전>, <하생기우전>, <최척전>, <주생전>에 나타난 여성주인공의 인물 형상에 대해 고찰하였다. 세 작품에 나타난 여성의 인물형성은 당대 남성이 이상적으로 여기는 여성의 모습을 지니고있으며, 남성주인공과 관계 맺을 수 있도록 문재가 뛰어났고, 애정 양상을 진행하기 위해 적극성을 뛰고 있다. 이는 당대 사회의 여성상을 나타낸다고도 할 수 있겠으나 남성작가의 인식에 의해 개연적으로 창조된 것임을 배제할수 없다. 작품 속에 드러나는 여성형상은 서사 전개 과정에 유리하도록 남성작가에 의해 형성되었다는 점을 주의깊게 살펴볼 필요가 있는 대목이라 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

In classical novels, the proportion of works that develop love issues between men and women as events is very large. A group of novels narrated with affection between a man and a woman at the center of the event was set as the category of love novels and studied. One axis of the research is to analyze the female protagonist’s appearance as passive and active, and many studies have been conducted to infer the appearance of women at the time according to the degree of social participation. This study paid attention to the fact that most of the classical novels were written by male authors. Classical novels are a reflection of society, and the image of the female protagonist reflected in the work may be a general image of women of the time captured by the author or a part of it. However, there is a limit as a male writer to describe the appearance of such a female protagonist. Therefore, in this study, the character formation of female protagonists in , , , and , which were clearly identified as male writers, was considered. The female character formation in the three works has the image of a woman that men of the time ideally consider, and she has excellent writing skills so that she can relate to the male protagonist, and she is active in advancing the aspect of affection. This can be said to represent the female image of the contemporary society, but it cannot be excluded that it was created probabilistically by the perception of male artists. It is a point that requires careful examination of the fact that the female figure revealed in the work was formed by a male writer to favor the narrative development process.
