어머니와 보육교사 간의 관계형성에 대한 상호 인식

국문 초록

본 연구는 어머니와 보육교사의 관계형성의 과정에서 상호 간의 경험과 인식을 교차적으로 살펴보면서, 갈등을 유발하는 대립적 요소와 공감을 형성하는 합의점 분석을 통해 협력적 관계로의 가능성을 모색하고자 하였다. 보육교사 관련 프로젝트의 일부로서 연구를 위한 자료 수집은 2018년 7월부터 11월에 걸쳐 보육교사 9명과 어머니 9명의 연구 참여자들과의 개별 심층면담을 통해 이루어졌다. 연구 결과, 정부의 무상보육정책이라는 사회정치적 맥락 안에서 어머니와 보육교사들은 ‘맡겨지는 아이들’에 대한 돌봄과 양육의 역할수행을 두고 서로 다른 기대와 인식을 가졌고, 이는 상호 역할수행에 대한 신념으로 작용하며 관계에서의 갈등 요인이 되었다. 또한, 자녀의 돌봄과 안전을 위임한 어머니의 불안감과 일부 학부모의 과도한 요구 및 사회적 불신과 같은 보육 현실에서의 교사의 스트레스와 소진으로 인해 서로가 스스로 약자로 여기며 갈등과 긴장 관계를 형성하였다. 그러나 어머니와 보육교사들은 ‘믿고 맡길 수 있는’ 신뢰를 형성하고자 서로 노력하였으며, 이는 영유아에 대한 애정과 관심을 공유하고, 서로의 감정과 요구를 수용하는 공감에서 시작되었다. 영유아의 건강한 성장과 발달을 중심으로 한 협력관계 형성을 위해서는 어머니와 보육교사 모두에게 서로 간의 신뢰와 공감, 양육에의 공동 책임감이 중요시되었다.

영문 초록

This study investigated the mutual perceptions of mothers and childcare teachers about the mother-teacher relationship and attempted to explore the possibility of a cooperative relationship by analyzing the underlying elements that cause conflict and that forms consensus. For this purpose, individual in-depth interviews were conducted with 18 participants, 9 mothers and 9 childcare teachers. As a result, in the socio-political context of the government s free childcare policy, the mothers and the childcare teachers had different expectations and perceptions about the roles of caring for and raising children, and this became a factor of conflict in their relationships. In addition, the mothers considered themselves as inferior to the childcare teachers due to the anxiety about their children whose safety and care were left to the teachers. The childcare teachers also felt inferior to the mothers due to their stress and exhaustion caused by the reality of childcare settings such as the excessive demands of some parents and social distrust. This feeling of inferiority that the mothers and the childcare teachers both had to each other formed conflicts and tensions in their relationships. Nevertheless, both mothers and childcare teachers tried to build up trust between them, which began with empathy formed by sharing affection and care for their children and by accepting each other s feelings and needs. Trust and sympathy between mothers and childcare teachers and their sense of shared responsibility for raising children were important for their cooperative relationship.
